And then SO will turn off the fan and say it’s bad for his health in the middle of the night when all the cool air is coming in.
What is it with Germans and drafts ? My mom was nuts about this, especially when my niece and nephew were babies. But yet German and Scandinavian children can get bundled up in zero degree weather to get "fresh air".
Live the moment. Time goes by too fast and then there is nothing left but regrets for the past.
I agree with live the moment. But I’m just waiting for this heatwave moment to pass .
I don’t know what their problem is with drafts. You are supposed to open your windows up in the winter a few times to get fresh air. But when summer rolls around, nope, suck it up buttercup. I actually have one A/C unit in a classroom this semester. I’ll see how well that goes over on Thursday. I’m sure someone will complain

Re: Living in the moment?
I try to live in the moment and enjoy each day BUUUUUT at the same time I also like to look forward to things as well. For myself, I actually don't like summer so around this time EVERY year I start getting that itch for fall and the holidays. It's just who I am. IF I post anything about Xmas being 6 months away, it's really just to torment my friends who live and breathe this time of year. lol
JMO...............but I think too many people worry too much about what others post, say or think on FB. I feel like if someone loves summer, live it up. If it makes someone else happy to countdown to Halloween, go for it! Honestly, I don't know people's motivation or mindset so I let them do them and I worry about myself.
With regards to Xmas specifically, I think because we're at the exact halfway point in the year is why you're seeing a lot of those types of posts. Also, "Christmas in July" is just a few weeks off so you'll also see Xmas movie marathons on Hallmark and Xmas Steals and Deals online soon too. It's all in good fun though, I love it but then I am the Xmas Queen.

I do live in the moment and cherish each day but I freakin' LOVE the Christmas season! I'll admit that the 6 month countdown got me very excited! That means in 5 months we can put up the Christmas lights! :)
The season is really special for me and I enjoy it immensely - beyond just the one day. I'm not sure why that would bother anyone else.
I am with you. I LOVE the Xmas season but even beyond that, I love the entire September to January run. (I don't mind winter either, I love it actually)
There is something about the start of fall and the holidays that I find invigorating and special. I have felt that since I was a kid. The new school year feels like a new beginning or a mini "New Year's". I love the cold, crisp air that blows in, the pumpkins and apples, and all of the fun festivities which surround those four months.
Unfortunately, I think so many people get so wrapped up in what other people are doing or posting about that they forget to make the holidays special for them. Yes it can be crazy, yes it can be busy but in the end, it's also about tradition, family, friends, good times and merriment and I love every minute of it. I go crazy around the holidays because I LOVE it so much and whether someone is jealous, impressed, annoyed or happy about how I am celebrating is NONE of my concern.

If you enjoy it- enjoy it. Decorate your tree in August for all I care. But when I have to log on to Facebook on June 25th and see 400 posts about Christmas, it kind of is a buzz kill for me. I don't post about the 4th of July on January 4th. One season at a time. One holiday at a time.

Re: Living in the moment?
But also- maybe there is something mentally wrong with me and maybe I need to get into therapy ASAP but I honestly am not a fan of Christmas. ( at least not since becoming an adult) The clutter of the decorations in my small home, the horrible weather, the stress, the money spent on nonsense that nobody really needs, the awful music and songs. Not a fan. And then to have to put on a happy face and PRETEND I like my house over taken by a huge tree, spending 3 paychecks on gifts nobody wants or needs and bake cookies that I don't need to be eating while i gain 5 pounds so I'm not kicked out of society. Yeah, it's kind of depressing.
(Now I'll go hide under my bridge because that makes me a goblin I know. )
But I'm being honest.

Best thing EVER. I dislike seeing the same posts over and over again, and the stupid re-posts that one of DH's friends does all time. Something from 5 years ago he'll see it and re-post. My feed is so much cleaner, and much more boring. I only have to look at it once a day for two minutes to be caught up.

This is exactly how I feel about Christmas as well. Really - all holidays that have turned into nothing but Hallmark holidays, look at me Competition days, #blessed

This. And it’s not like people don’t post the opposite when it’s 6 months to summer
I will just never understand why these things upset anyone
It will never physically shorten summer. Same amount of days
I don’t like summer. Never have. So yea. I can’t wait for it to be over. Doesn’t mean I’m a sheep or don’t live in the moment

Honestly, after working retail for many years it ruined my Christmas spirit. Even after leaving retail and having kids, everything to do with Christmas just feels like a f**cking rat race and waste of money. Everything is so overdone. This is why my favorite holiday is thanksgiving. Food and family, nothing more. I don’t enjoy Christmas because it’s not very relaxing. I usually have to work Christmas Eve, then we trek out to Nassau that night to visit my husbands family, which is about an hour drive, get home late at night, then go to my dads Christmas Day, then work the next day. It’s all so exhausting...

Re: Living in the moment?
I have such a hard time living in the moment. I have a different type of anxiety. One that is brought on by feeling behind and not having things done and ready way in advance. I love fall, I love love Thanksgiving and obviously Christmas. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy summer. I live for the lazy mornings and laying out by the pool. Beach days, no rushing, no packing lunches, running around everyday for gymnastics, dance, soccer, etc.. For the last month all I have looked forward to is not needing to set my alarm in the morning anymore lol But my mind will still wander as I lay by the pool and think I better order back to school supplies now, or I should start thinking about halloween costumes and where I should take my Christmas card pictures this year. However, I would NEVER post that on social media lol

The sheep referred to people who just post because everyone else is. I wonder how many people actually woke up this morning saying... 6 months to Christmas!! Or if they saw it on FB and just had to repost it.

Gina - I see your posts (when they make it into my feed) you are not who anyone here is ******** about. Yours are genuine posts and you can see your personality in all of them. Maybe you’re lucky enough to not have many FB friends who are absolutely sheep. It gets quite annoying. Which is why that unfollow button is my bestie

1. people are sheep and repost EVERYTHING like it's their job. how about you vote with the same fervor you post crap on social media??
So this is off topic a bit, but I started the thread, so I'm allowed!
Speaking of sheep and reposting everything. I have this woman on my friends list who reposts EVERYTHING. Every missing kid, every missing dog every urban legend about people making you smell perfume samples in the mall parking lot so they can make you pass out and kidnap you- EVERYTHING. True, false, disproved by Snopes, doesn't matter. She just haphazardly reposts it.
A few weeks ago she posted a very old story about a missing baby who they thought was kidnapped. It was about a year or so old and the baby had been found safe. If you even clicked the article, it said- update- baby found safe! So someone replied and said- The baby has been found safe. Not a week later, she is posting the SAME damn thing. Like do you read? Or if not, do you read the comments on your post? I don't even know where she finds this crap.
I think you’re friends with my grandmother. I’ve even called her out on it. Doesn’t make a difference. I had to unfollow her page because it was driving me crazy.
She is a lonely woman who does not know how to use the Internet properly.

Omg 4th of July is my favorite holiday too! I mean, summer, beach, pool, fireworks. bbq, awesome drinks, no shopping , no decorating....come on!! Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Eta... but I don't post a 6 month countdown to it on FB every January 4th or anything.

Living in the moment?
I live for summer. Christmas is nice, but with it comes it getting dark at 4:30, all of us cooped up in the house, SNOW, spending too much, eating too much fattening food, and I think so many people forget about the real reason we even celebrate Christmas. I HATE that stupid God forsaken elf, the crowds at every store every weekend, and my kids asking me if Santa can bring them everything they see. Yea, I am the total Grinch that stole Christmas. BUT, if you love all of that, more power to you! I know many people hate summer. Nell, I just like to know I'm not alone!
