So then, you agre with an unmarried person telling another unmarried person that they are not marrying their FH's family, just their FH?
Remember, these women are giving advice to a person who just may believe what they are being told, and after she's married and the grass isn't greener on the other side, who's gonna help her? not to beat a dead horse here, but I don't necessarily agree that you marry the family. everyone's situation is different. my MIL is a PIA and has said and done some messed up sh*t! but she lives 500 miles away and DH would NEVER side with her over me. so in my situation, I married him, not his mom. do I still have to deal with her bs? of course! but my DH stands up to her when she's out of line.

Re: LIW cracks me up
When I was engaged. I thought oh well who cares that his mother is well nevermind that but anyway... I thought it wouldn't matter since I was marrying him and not her. BUT you know what.... I married him but inherited his family. We don't have to like each other but we are family now

I try to go over there and give "real" advice from someone who has done it already but it seems lost over there.
It's not all lost... I"m a future bride over there and welcome any advise that is worth taking!

And if you want to obsess over things like that, that's fine, I am talking about brides giving advice to each other about a topic they have yet to experience and being DEAD WRONG about it........
Question then... if we have a problem like that who else is going to give us advice if we post on LIW? Most of the posters on that site are unmarried... do we ignore her?
Truthfully, I probably would've said the same thing to this girl because I don't have that experience, but I think what I think because I have yet to be in a marriage, not unlike most of the girls on that site. Maybe she should be directed here, to where the experts are...
