Locks of Love

Bella's hair is really long now and I am thinking that she will grow it through the spring/summer and then cut and donate her hair to locks of love.

Will she "get it" at close to 4? I want her to understand the wonderful thing she is doing and she is such a lovable little girl, I know if she does she will be so happy...

Re: Locks of Love

She might get it. If not, she will always have the memory of doing it, and will proud of herself later for making the donation. I think it's a great teaching moment for her and a wonderful thing to do.

I donated my hair after my wedding, but I think they prefer getting hair from younger people, since it's a better "match" for other children.

Not sure if she will really get it at that age but taking pictures and talking about it she eventually will. What a great thing to do. Chat Icon

Re: Locks of Love

Thanks guys Chat Icon I mentioned to her last night and she said she would love to give her hair to someone...not sure if she understood, but I did compare it to when we gave the binky away "to babies who needed it" and she immediately said "I wanna do that"

I just measured her ponytail and it's nine inches and the way her hair grows, by spring it should be perfect.

We'll see.

Re: Locks of Love

That is really wonderful - not only that she wants to do it but that you are teaching her this at such a young age Chat Icon

Re: Locks of Love

Awww that's an amazing gift Bella is giving!

Although she may not understand it now. Once they receive your donation they send you a "Thank You" card in the mail. It took about 2 months for me to get mine. It would be an awesome keepsake for when she is older and can understand the whole concept.
