I didn’t comment on this latest report because I am done. I am so sick of him moving the carrot every ******** day.
This cannot go on much longer. Businesses are going to go under and people will lose their homes. We live with high everything here on LI. It is impossible to continue to live this way without losing everything and living in a box
We were told we needed to flatten the curve. We did. Now what????! We are at the point where we should be opening up more. If you are elderly or immunocompromised , you can PAUSE if need be. The rest of us can wear our masks, be 6 feet away, change our business protocols to make sure it’s as safe as possible and GET BACK TO WORK.
I am furious. FURIOUS.
I am a rule follower. I was all for the pause to help the greater good. But now what? When does it end????
What's the penalty for a business to open? I wonder if some will say fuk it and open anyway.

It wont end because King Cuomo thinks we are all stupid. Which is why he felt he had to spell out NY “PAUSE” not “PAWS!” ????

I met a friend for a walk yesterday- it felt awesome. We walked around the high school track for TWO HOURS. Did wonders for my mood, I can't even tell you. Nobody had masks on, but there was plenty of room to space out, nobody was on top of each other.
I did too but we walked on streets (we have been banned from using our HS brand new track because it is "closed" for the pandemic)... It was really nice to talk to someone that didn't live in my home as I am at my wits end with those three.
I saw somewhere that they are going to decide on camps/summer school on 5/29. I'm not keeping my hopes up but, something has to be done.
Thanks for posting - I listen every day (in the background) and got pulled away when he got to the good stuff and was looking for this slide. I'm in the Mid-Hudson region so we are at 4/7. Fingers crossed we can all get to a better position by 5/15!

$10,000 supposedly BUT not one place who refused to close has been closed down or fined. Cops aren’t enforcing it.
There are multiple FB pages with small business owners who are ready to say F it and open up. It’s coming.

$10k is a lot BUT how much are they losing by staying closed indefinitely? And yeah, I guess if they aren't enforcing it.....

I also love how he has repeatedly said schools and businesses must open together- but today he put schools as dead last. Who will be watching these children when their parents return to work? Everything will be functioning except schools? So the adults will all be out & about, but the children will still have nowhere to go?
I saw this too... and stood there scratching my head. How does that make any sense??
All I do is pray the Gov. Murphy starts going his own way. He sounds better than Cuomo but still nothing that is promising to me yet.

HAHA. Literally 6 people spread out around the entire track, we were two of those six.
Good for you!!!
I'm sure I will get slammed, but I finally let my daughter ride her bike on the greenway and around the neighborhood with her friend. She wore a mask for the busy bodies that would probably be ready to report her or blast her on social media, and they were not allowed to stop and socialize with each other. It honestly improved her mood so much.

DH thought Cuomo said he was lifting the pause and letting local officials decide on when to open businesses. I was so glad to hear that but I take it this means he was wrong.

Only for certain regions in upstate NY. Some regions of upstate, as well as the entire downstate region, will not be unpaused on May 15th. We have no timeline, just that it will be a long time before we can be unpaused. My guess is we will go another month, and start phase 1 on June 15th.

There was a story this morning about a barber who is cutting hair in Freeport outside in the parking lot and they told him if he continues he will get a misdemeanor. He says it goes against the commandments. Ummm what???

Yes, I remember from high school
Freedom of speech
The right to bear arms
The right to cut hair
And so on...

to be honest I am to the point where i believe he will keep making excuses till he gets what he wants.
I said this already in another thread; He said this only worked because people were willing to do it. I have a feeling more and more people are not going to be willing to listen anymore.
we need to let people out and work. I was all for it and I am still all for staying in if he is willing to give me a date. To say we have to stay in all summer is crazy!! Yes he may not be able to give a specific date but maybe if he says listen if we continue following the precautions is it possible in 2-3 weeks we will be opening up. Right now he keeps saying come May 15th we will see what can open and I am sure he knows he will not be opening our ares. Just say that already and stop with the hinting around it.
The point was not to overload the hospital system and its going down.
We need to let natural herd immunity happen and let people who dont feel comfortable stay in.
Also am I the only one who is sick of this being compared to the 1918 pandemic?
I don't know how we can compare what is going on today with what happened over 100 years ago when they had way less technology and way less sanitary conditions then we do now. Which had to play a role in deaths back then!
I agree!
