Long Island Homes On Hidden Potential

Has anyone seen the two episodes about Long Island Homes on HGTV's Hidden Potential?

I find it surprising that one couple was able to find a home for around 300k. I didn't think there's anything under 400k in Long Island anymore?!?

These are the two LI shows:

Hidden Potential LI #1

Hidden Potential LI #2

You'd be surprised. There are homes out there for $300,000 and under. I have no clue how much work is involved but they are out there.

I saw one of them.

I think that they should show what the couple decides and if they do the work, i would love to see the after product.

I saw the first one. Actually know of the couple. I used to live in East Rockaway and if you are down in the Bay Park area, there are some really cute smaller homes around the canals.

Yes, I saw the first one yesterday. And there are definitely MANY homes under 400K, on LI, its just depends where on LI you are willing to look and what kind of house you want.

We have very specific things we are looking for. Not interested in having to remodel anything or put money into any home that we purchase. With that comes cost and frustration.

In person because I go with my Mother who is looking. For example, I've been in this house and it is great and the location is amazing. I was raised in Nesconset and went all through Smithtown Schools, they are amazing and I know the area very well

Thanks, beautiful home, but we are only looking at Center Hall Colonials or Splanches. I may pass this along to my friend though!

Re: Long Island Homes On Hidden Potential

what about Brookfields?? They are all over Nesconset, Kings Park, Smithtown and Hauppauge. They are an extremely large house (some in 5 bedrooms) and actually have A LOT more room than the splanches (most Splanches & Brookfields were build by the same companies hence they are in the same areas.

Re: Long Island Homes On Hidden Potential

this is the standard Brookfield (one of the more popular designs in the Smithtown, Kings Park, Nesconset, Hauppauge & some parts of Commack). Its an incrediable amount of living space and a really nice and area layout (great for entertaining). They seem to range in price from $479-$600ish. basic brookfield

I think you are going to like the Brookfield, its a good mix of a traditional house with more modern conviences.

what about this house?

We saw that house about two months ago, when it was way more expensive. The house is beautiful and well maintained but in two of the four bedrooms there are literally no closets...I mean none at all. The foundation is also not poured concrete and we are also looking for a bathroom in the Master bedroom. If anyone looks at this house...it is just beautiful! Great price for it now!! I would have considered it if it had closets in at least 3 of the four bedrooms...but not in only two. Thanks though!!Chat Icon

Yes! I saw this...I live in east rock now and thought it was so cool.

you can definately get for under $400K. East Rock. gave DH & I a good variety in that price range (I spent a little under 4) and the taxes are low!

You can also find under 4 in Island Park, North Merrick, Wantagh (Levittown district), Long Beach (bungalows in the west end.)

But I see some girls have bought for under 3. Kudos to you! THAT is awesome.
