long island teachers- disability question?
i teach in a public school on long island. Our district's policy is that we can use as many saved sick days as we want to be paid while on maternity leave. Since this is my 2nd DC in 2 years i have very few days to use (maybe 10).
Would i be able to collect 6 weeks of short term disability through NYS?? i know it's a small amount but it is better than nothing.
I emailed my HR person but they take forever with answers.
I will be using FMLA and then staying out half year.

I am not a teacher but I believe you should be able to collect disability if you qualify for FMLA.

Re: long island teachers- disability question?
I think it depends on your district. As you know, I was out on bedrest prior to delivering DD, and I was NOT allowed to collect disability. I used up my sick days ( I had about 30) and when they ran out, I stopped getting paid (and just continued with FMLA).
