Long Weekend without Kids - Need Recommendations
My husband and I have not been on a "real" vacation in the past 7 years. We've done little trips with our families and I tagged along on a work trip once, but we haven't gone somewhere that was just the two of us for the sole purpose of getting away. We didn't even take a honeymoon after our wedding, because I was in school and we were in the process of buying a house.
Now two houses later and two kids later, I think it's time to prioritize a little time away together even though money is still tight with daycare costs, house improvements, and all the other things life throws at us. Therefore, I have proposed taking a long weekend trip without the kids for our 5th anniversary in November.
However, I'm at a loss about where to go for a long weekend in November. I'm thinking leaving on a Thursday and returning on a Monday, so like 4 nights. Is flying to an all-inclusive worth it? Is it better to pick a U.S. city that we want to explore? Anyone have any good recommendations for either?

Warm weather is not necessary, but some place that is nice/not super cold in November.

DH and I just went to Bermuda for 4 days/3 nights and it was perfect. Its only an hour and half flight and was so easy to get to. The weather should be in the low 70s/high 60s at that time.

Florida Keys
DH & I just came back from Islamorada in the keys and stayed at Cheeca Lodge. It was great. The resort is beautiful and the people are so nice. It's about 1 1/2 hrs from Miami and 1 1/2 from Key West so we drove down there one day and walked around.

Re: Long Weekend without Kids - Need Recommendations
We just did 4 days in Vegas without our kids. We are going to make it an annual trip. It was so great. We stayed at the W, which we loved, and ate, drank, saw a bunch of shows.

Thanks for the recommendations! Now I have a lot of places to look into and research. I feel like because it's been so long since we took up a trip there are too many options. I can't even decide if we want a resort type vacation, or an exploring a city type vacation, or something totally different. I feel like I should just get a map, close my eyes, and point.

We spent an amazing weekend in NYC in November. You can save the $ on airline tix and stay at an amazing place, take in some shows and have real dinner.
Also did a trip to Miami during November. It's dry season then... and plenty to see even if weather is not great.
I haven't done, but would do austin Texas and do the live music scene. I miss live music.

For something totally different - Iceland to see the Northern Lights! Definitely not warm, but it's a great, easy trip. Fly out of NY direct to Iceland, about 5 - 5 1/2 hours, everyone speaks English and so many great things to see and do (aside from the Northern Lights, there's the Blue Lagoon, waterfalls, geysers, glaciers). 4 days is just about the right amount of time to do/see everything

Iceland is actually on my list of places I would love to go. It hadn't occurred to me that it might work for a long weekend trip. I'm definitely going to have to look into that as an option. Thanks!
