Re: Looking at Minivans - recs?
we just got the 2009 Chrysler Town & Country 25th Anniversary Edition.
we are picking it up tomorrow but from what i have heard from friends who have it, its the BEST.
2 DVD monitors that can play the same or 2 seaparate movies, can attach a game console (xbox for ex) everything is remote, side doors, back door, remote start.
heated 1st & 2nd row seats, each row has air control.
its big, but its worth it...

We are currently in the process of getting a Toyota Sienna. It was between the Honda Odyssey or Sienna and decided on the Sienna in the end. Can't go wrong with either one!

Re: Looking at Minivans - recs?
we got a left over Grand Caravan for a steal. The only thing I don't like is that the middle windows don't go down. I LOVE the different stowing features.

I chose the Toyota Sienna because I wanted all wheel drive for the snow. I am very happy with the Sienna.

I have a Sienna and love it. I wish I got a different color than gray though. In my DD's school parking lot, there are at least 4 of us who have gray Siennas and that's just at her school. Forget finding it in a store parking lot LOL

We have this EXACT same edition, 25th anniversary 2009 & LOVE it. We've only had it a month or so, but its GREAT. The seats fully stow & the DVD's are great & all the windows go down & there's built in sun shades & all the doors are automatic. The only negative is the turning ratio or backing up, but the back up cam is great.

also, do you have any car seats or boosters in the third row? i don't have a need for that now, but can see it in the future when transporting DD's friends and am a little of how it will work...

When we rented one we had 2 car seats in the middle row and another person could fit in that row as well, but we took the seat out.
I was in the 3rd row with DD's Britax Marathon and another person could have squeezed next to me.
There is SO much room in the Sienna it's ridiculous.

Mine is the lighter gray. I like the slate.
I have the one with 8 seats. My older kids sit in the 3rd row, each at a window. DD has a Marathon carseat and DS #1 has a highback booster. You could fit a skinnier child without a carseat or booster between them. My 9 year old niece has sat there but it's tight. If DD was in a booster instead of a carseat, a larger child without a booster could sit there. In the middle I have my DS #2 with a Marathon behind the driver seat. There's more room there, you could fit another carseat or 2 boosters next to him. So IMO, the maximum # of carseats is 4 and the maximum # of boosters is 4 (or 5 if you have an 8 seater). Does that make sense?
ETA: I highly recommend the 8 seater. We removed the seat behind the passenger side for daily use bc it makes it easier for DS & DD to get in the 3rd row. We put it back in if we need to transport other people. I wish it stored in the floor of the minivan but I think there is only 1 minivan that does that (Town & Country?) and after researching, we were deciding between the Sienna & the Odyssey. My SIL has the Odyssey and she loves it so you can't go wrong with either.

My SIL has the Odyssey and she loves it so you can't go wrong with either. thanks for the info... i am worried about the darker color when it comes to dirt and scratches, but it's the color they had for the price we were willing to pay. it's also a 7 seater. i panicked a bit when i started to think multiple car seats and boosters (right now it's just my two kiddos), but the more i think about it, the more i don't think it will be a problem. we really don't transport a lot of people in general but do need the third row on occasion and for the future.
i'm excited to pick it up. how long did it take you to get used to it? i fear i'm going to be one of those lunatics who has no idea where she is on the road

Re: Looking at Minivans - recs?
I looked at the Routon, it's basically a chrysler mini van dressed as a VW with VW suspension and leather and the residual value is GOD AWFUL on it. LOVED it, but i decided against it cause of the residual value
