looking for a gown - what shops would you rec?
Hi, I'm attending a wedding as a guest and need a great gown. Besides the big department stores i.e., Macys. Berdofff, Saks, Nieman, Ann Taylor, etc -- can you tell me what other shops I should consider? Can you name any in your town or tell me where you buy your long dresses/gown?

Would you consider internet shopping or store only?

Where do you live? Estelle's Dressy Dresses is a popular place. They are in Melville(I think).

If you do not mind heading into the city I would recommend edressme at W38th street. You can visit their website at www.edressme.com

Re: looking for a gown - what shops would you rec?
Hi ladies! Thanks so much for all the replies. I'm really flexible on locations but would like to see (and try on) before I buy since I'm cutting it close.
I went to Estelles yesterday - no luck if you can believe it. You're right though - tons of gowns.
I'm off to Lord and Taylor! Wish me luck and thanks again!

Nordstroms is a great go-to place for gowns.

I like Lord & Taylor too. The one in the city has the best selection.
eta: I'm not sure if they have gowns but I also got a beautiful dress at White House Black Market.
