Looking for a restaurant rec
My 35th bday is in a few wks and its on a Thurs so DH and i and some friends are going for dinner. We want to stay local to us- we are in Smithtown.
Anyone have any nice suggestions? I want somewhere nice but not overly $ but also not your typical pizzeria/restaurant either.
Mexican or Italian or American preferred
thanks
ETA: will go to stony brook, pt jeff, st james, commack

Maria's (Spanish) is highly rated, never been though. H2O is great but mostly seafood, some meats. Maybe pricy too.

Re: Looking for a restaurant rec
I hear that Butera's is very good. It was the old Smithtown house. I haven't been, but I keep hearing good things.

Re: Looking for a restaurant rec
How about Butera's or Chop Shop??
Chop Shop isn't Italian but, I just ate there over the weekend for the first time and the menu was varied and it was great.
Butera's is always good.

I was going to suggest Chop Shop too. I really liked my meal. Kitchen is suppose to be fantastic...it's the old Mirabella in St. James.
Vintage is also very good.
