Looking for a local trip for a short family vacation...
We are thinking of going away for 2 nights Presidents day weekend when DH has a three days off. We have an 18.5 month old that we want to take. Dh doesn't want to take any vacation time b.c we have the baby coming in June an he needs the few vacation days he has to help me with the baby since I'm having a section so we are stuck going when he has a holiday weekend.
Any suggestions - we want to drive not fly.
We were thinking Mystic but it looks like a lot is closed in the winter.
Great wolf lodge is booked solid that weekend.
Is there anything to do in Lancaster that time of the year besides the outlets?
I think DC will probably be too far a drive for just 2 nights or we would do that if we had a little more time.

We took DD to Boston for a weekend and went to the New England Aquarium. It is all inside so you won't miss out if you go in the winter.

Boston is pretty short drive - I haven't been in years! What else did you do with your DD other than the Aquarium? Did you do the walk that they have or the children's museum?

We're probably headed up to the Boston area to visit my brother and sister soon. Not only is there an aquarium, but there is also a Children's Museum. I have to ask my brother for a little more info....

My IL's have a condo at Stratton, and while DH can ski, I certainly can not! But with the kids, if they aren't taking ski lessons, you can go sledding or snow tubing.

Re: Looking for a local trip for a short family vacation...
We just got back from a long weekend in Boston. We were up there to begin our plans of moving up there later this year, but we had time to do things with Joey. We did the New England Aquarium, the Children's Museum, and there was one day where the weather was decent so we did part of the freedom trail. Quincy Marketplace is also beautiful...lots of shopping and nice places to eat. It is such a baby friendly city, we just put Joey in the stroller, and off we went. If you need hotel rec.'s, let me know. We stayed at a great place for a good price!!

I love Baltimore and their battery. They have shopping there. The aquarium on the battery is a great one.

How far is the drive to Baltimore - isn't it more than 4 hours?

It takes about 5-6 hours (depending on traffic and weather) to go to Washington DC and Baltimore is about 1 hour or so North of DC.

I love Mohonk but since I'm pregnant and DD is only 19 months I don't think I will be doing much ice staking or chillin' since she never sits...LOL.

Baltimore is 3 1/2 -4 hours from me (in wantagh) My sister lives near there so we go a lot, we were actually there this past weekend. We hit no traffic and it took us 3 1/2 hours each way.
