looking for FUN restaurant
i'm taking a girlfriend out for a birthday dinner next week, she wants to keep it low key so it's just 3 of us going out, but she just had a friend basically "break up" w her and i want to make it at least a little bit special.
i'd like to take her to a place that's fun...i was thinking hibachi, but does anyone have any other suggestions for a restaurant that has something extra about it, that's really fun?? i was thinking of don juans in westbury, but i haven't been there in many years, and i know that place used to have shootings and stuff outside late at night, so i'm not sure how it is now.
any recs are appreciated.

Painters in Brookhaven is a funky/artsy place w/ lots of art work on the walls and a nice bar, great food.

Two (in NHP?) is kind of a scene, the food is good too. We had my sister's bachelorette party dinner there.

just saw their menu. a little pricey, but it looks cool and i like that there are a few things that i can eat as a non-meat-eater. and they are close to my friend's house which is a plus. thanks!!

Haven't been yet, but DH and I are planning to go to Salumi this weekend for my birthday/our anniversary.
I keep hearing such great things about it from the girls on here.
It's a wine/tapas place on Merrick Rd. in Massapequa just East past McCann's.

ITA! LOVE Salumi. Tiny place but different and delicious tapas and wine

cue nine is right by my house but i haven't been there...that might be the best idea, since we can eat and play. that's more along the lines of what i was looking for. funny that it's so close to me and yet i wouldn't have thought of it! :) thanks.
