Lost DD's Social Security Card...UPDATE!
and we are supposed to get our taxes done tomorrow.
I just noticed that I can't find it and for some reason, I don't even have the number written down anywhere..
Can I call social security and get it over the phone?
I have a feeling this is going to be a pain in the butt!!
Update--After praying to St Anthony all day, I decided to take one last look after dinner. Even though I ripped through the things in my closet last night, I decided to check again....I found both of our SS cards in the wallet I was using before I switched pocketbooks. Oddly, I was telling everyone that I definitely had the cards in my hand within the last 3 weeks...I switched pocketbooks on Christmas!

Keep looking. I couldn't find my youngest son either but remember where I put it at the last second.
I don't think SS will give you info over the phone. You have to go to the office and it takes about 1-2 weeks for the card. At least you still have time for your taxes to get done.

I am not sure how it works where you live. But I lost my DD's last year. I had to take her birth certificate to the SS office and they gave me the # in person and mailed me a new card. I love in Ca though so it may be different.

its the same here as well.
I never got DD's...got lost in the mail. I went to SS office and ended up not getting one since I forgot her doc booklet with her dob, even after i bought her birth certificate.
I have yet to go back but she did give me her ss# while I was there.
I still need to go back.

SS wont tell you over phone, you will have to go in person to SS, thats what they told me when i didnt receive my dd card, and i was afraid it went to the wrong house.

I called SS this morning and they told me that if I go to the office with her birth certificate and a copy of her immunizations (I find that odd) they will give me the number in the office and mail a new card.
I am still going to continue looking, but I have lost hope!

I guess the immunization record is something that is always updated so proof its your child. I guess a BC can be found by a stranger and not real proof that its your child.

We had the same problem last year when we went to do our taxes. It was a pain to go to the office, but they gave me the # while I was there. For your taxes you only need the number not the actual card. Of course after I got the new card in the mail I found the old one!

I forgot that, here they also told be to bring her shot records. They never asked to see them though so I forgot until I read this!

I am pretty positive that I WILL find the card once I get the new one...just the way my luck is
