I carry mine and I never thought twice about it. i am going to take it out of my wallet tonight and put it in the safe!!

its the worst possible thing to carry ur SS card with u, i highly recommend every1 keep it at home and just memorize the #...there is no reason to carry it on ur person and if ur robbed or wallet is stolen and the person has ur actual card it will make ur life verrrry difficult.

I guess if someone gets a hold of your SS card they can use it to steal your identity!
I never really thought about it but mor and more people are having problems with someone stealing their SS card. I guess its just easier to not carry it with me!!

because you use your SS # for A LOT of things- banks, loans, etc... if someone got ahold of the number, they could do a lot of damage with things like that- stealing your identity...
ETA: i have the number memorized, and i just keep the card with other important papers in the safe

nope- it's with all my other papers- I lost it once when I was younger- so I don't want to do that again
Jake has no idea where his is- so he had to last week and get one- b/c he can't even get a new copy of his drivers Lic with out it now

no, it's in the vault with our wills and other docs.
The only time you need it is for a name change and new employment for the I-9 form. Even that you can use your passport.
