Lost iPhone
So on Saturday, in a drunken stupor, I lost my iPhone. UGH. I'm so angry at myself because this is NOT like me at all. I blame my sister-in-law and those damned fish bowls.
Anyway, we had been out all day celebrating so by the time I realized my phone was even missing, the battery was dead. I do have the "Find my iPhone" app on my phone and activated, however, it'll only work if someone picked up my phone and decides to charge it to try and use it. Granted, that's still a real possibility so I'll get an e-mail if/when the phone is turned on. I also just found out yesterday that the cab company I took is affiliated with the bar I was at. So I called and got the number and left a message and am waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed that the cab company has it and has just been waiting for me to call up and ask for it!
But, I'm also preparing for the worst. If my phone is really gone, I'll have to get a new one. UGH. I do have insurance so it's not THAT bad, but I ws wondering what happens as far as my data. My apps, games, music, etc. I mean, if I have to DL it all again, that's what I have to do. The apps and stuff don't bother me, but I had a TON of music on there. Am I mistaken or is that automatically backed up on my iCloud? How would I go about getting this set up on my new phone in the event that I need one? TIA, everyone, just trying to be prepared!

Re: Lost iPhone
Urggggggggghhhhhhhh. I just spoke with the cab company and they say no cell phone. The guy was a d!ck about it, too, and I don't know if I believe him, but what can I do?
So what should I do when I get my new cell? Take it to the Apple store? Nobody knows?

Re: Lost iPhone
It should have been a choice to cloud your music, contacts, etc. as long as you set it up that way it will be there. Is it synced to itunes? Once you connect the new phone to itunes it will ask you if you want to sync the new phone. It will copy everything from your itunes library to your new phone.

Re: Lost iPhone
I just asked my husband...he said if you enabled iCloud backup then you can restore it from there. Otherwise when you plug in your new phone and synch it to your computer, it will prompt you to restore from backup.
that will then restore anything that you SYNCHED to your computer. If you did not synch it, and only downloaded stuff on your phone, sorry to say that is gone...if you dont have iCloud backup

Re: Lost iPhone
All your music, pictures, apps, etc. you shuold be able to get from your iTunes. I'd be concerned about how much its going to cost me to replace the phone...

I definitely enabled the iCloud back-up and I definitely remember that every once in awhile it would prompt me to connect to wifi (where I wasn't already connected) so that the phone could back up on the icloud.
I also DLed all my music through iTunes. That's a relief. Sorry for the questions, this is my first Apple gadget since my iPod waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy back in the day. And to think I used to be so tech savvy.
Yeah, I'm definitely bummed about the cost, but at least it was insured. I think it's going to be about $150 to replace, if I read correctly.
ETA: And thanks for the info!
