Lovenox girls.. question
i have to take lovenox everyday for my entire pregnancy , my question is.. does anyone else have to get bloodwork done at the lab every month? my Peri is having me do this and said its important to get the blood drawn exactly 4 hours after the injection.
now at the labs they take no appts, so i was wondering what you girls did?

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
I haven't had to get blood work done??? I just take the shots every night.
Suggestion, try to take them before bed (on days you don't have to do blood work). I used to do it in the morning and found it very painful all day, especially when the seatbelt or anything else hit my injection site. Now I do it at night and by the time I wake up the tenderness is gone.

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
yea i am not sure why i have to get the bloodwork done either.. they said something about checking the levels..
but they told me i had to take it in the morning.. and the SAME time every morning they were actually quite strict with it.. i am having such trouble with these injections myself.. it burns so much.. and i am used to injections.. and the needle never goes in right away
but i have to do it! and get used to it!
thank you for the advice!

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
I had bloodwork done once by the doctor that Cornell referred me to for my blood clotting issues but she never told me the results and I don't think I have to go back. I take my shots at night. The shots don't really hurt but boy is my stomach bruised!

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
yes, I am a graduate of dr. b and dr kofinas. I would go to labcorp. get there about a 1/2 hour before and tell the girl at the front you need a lovenox draw. they will ask you when hit 4 hours and take you in. I would always get there about 45 mins early just so i wouldn't feel guilty about skipping people!!! congratulations and good luck.

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
I don't get mine INR checked now that I on on therapeutic lovenox just during pregnancy.
However, when I was on Coumadin regularly (up until 3 years ago), I had to get it checked every month to make sure it wasn't too thin or too thick. If it was either, they would either change my dosage or tell me to eat certain foods.

I also went to Dr. Kofinas and ha dto take lovenox shots 2x a day. I would do the same as the PP. I would go in a little earlier and tell them I had to have my blood drawn with in 4 hours. They know it is important. Good Luck. Also, I have a bunch of boxes of lovenox left over if you need.

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
I had monthly blood work done but my hematologist did not mention anything about the time of the appointment
I would always do my injections at night so it was way more than 4 hours when they drew the blood

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
I haven't had to get blood work done either. I asked my doctor about this and he said it all depends on the amount of Lovenox you are taking. I am on 40 mg and that's considered a low dosage I guess. I am not followed by a specialist, just my high-risk OB at this point. However, the original script for Lovenox was provided by my RE. I also take my injections at night before bed.

Re: Lovenox girls.. question
yes... you need to go every month. are you going to Koffinas? If so- you can just get your blood drawn there- you prob will go to Koffinas every 2 weeks- so you can just set your alarm to go off 4 hours b/f you'd be walking in the door..
My appts are usually in the morning- 10 or so- so I wake up at 5.45 to take the shot on that day- when I walk in, i tell them I need the test.
RE: the shots- i had a hard time too- until I started icing 5 minutes before- seems like annoying- but it works and for some reason, the burning gets worse over time.
