Low Lying Placenta
The one thing I was told at my level II today was that I have a low lying placenta and that they plan to do another sono at 28 weeks to check on it. Should I worry about this?

No, not at all. It will most likely move up as your uterus grows. I have it too!

Re: Low Lying Placenta
I wasn't put on bedrest or any restrictions, but I worried that this was uncommon.

I wasn't put on bedrest or any restrictions, but I worried that this was uncommon. I am surprised that you were not told to go on pelvic restriction just as a precaution....I would call your Dr. to be sure. Of course it depends on where your placenta is in relation to your cervical opening.
Most times the placenta moves as your uterus grows. Only very rarely does it become a previa, and it is usually because of a previous surgery or scar tissue from a cyst or fibroid. (There are other causes too, but those are the most common).
I do have a complete previa, my uterus wall has scar tissue & it appears on the sonograms that the placenta adhered to the scar tissue. It is very uncommon for this to happen though.

just posting to add that I was put on pelvic restriction when they saw that it was marginal previa (meaning part of it was on my cervix) but for a low lying they may not restrict you at all.

I know there are different degrees of where the placenta sits...I just would rather hear it from a Dr rather than a tech. KWIM?

Re: Low Lying Placenta
I was told it is not on my cervix at all, and I did ask about pelvic rest etc... She said no restrictions now, but to call if I bleed or feel pain. She said she would follow up with a sono at 28 weeks.

Re: Low Lying Placenta
I think its only a problem for having a vaginal delivery -- if the placenta doesn't move by then. They'll check at 28 weeks to see if it moves. Many times it moves on its own. As long as you don't have bleeding, it shouldn't be a problem in your day-to-day life.
I have placenta previa (the placenta covering the cervix), and at 15 weeks it was partial, at 21 weeks its still too close to the cervix, but it is moving (slowing but surely). My doc says we'll check at 28 weeks and keep checking even after that. If it doesn't move by about 37 weeks, I will have to have a c-section.
Don't worry -- it could be much worse -- plus it will probably correct itself on its own.

Thank you so much! I hope it corrects itself for both of us.

I hope so too
An additional FYI, most hospitals will not allow for a scheduled c-section before 39w without an amnio. I am going for my amnio on Monday, and although the Dr would ideally like me to go before 39w, they need to determine that the baby's lungs are developed enough before approving an early c-section.
Good luck gals!

Re: Low Lying Placenta
I had a LLP with Emma at 20 weeks and by 30 weeks it was far enough away for a vag delivery with no problems
