Low Lying placenta
Really all the doc said was no intercourse for now, we will check again in six weeks to see if it has moved up.
But what are the consequences if it does not?
TIA

Re: Low Lying placenta
Are you referencing to Placenta Previa?
Consequences: - pelvic rest - C-section
But it can move as the pregnancy progresses.

She didnt even use the words placenta previa, but i would assume thats what she means, I guess I will just hope it moves up. In any event it will be nice to see my little boy again in six weeks

Re: Low Lying placenta
I had this as well..most of the time it does move up, but in my case it didnt, and it became a complete previa...I ended up bleeding on and off my whole 3rd trimester, and was on total bedrest...I ended up delivering at 36 weeks, due to a severe bleed. I ended up having a c section, and it was done in the regular OR, just in case I had excessive bleeding....not to scare you, but most likely it will move.

Re: Low Lying placenta
I was told that I had a LLP at my 19 week visit, but I was not put on pelvic rest.

Re: Low Lying placenta
I have a LLP (and am on pelvic rest). It is not the same as a Previa. If the placenta does not move, it can turn into previa. Before 20 weeks it is not a concern bc it usually moves. After 20 weeks it becomes more of a concern and bed rest is a possibility.

well I am 20 weeks now. Only restriction is no intercourse, will recheck in 6 weeks. So I will keep my fingers crossed it moves up.

Me too! My doctor is sending me to a high risk doctor on Friday, so we'll see what he says. I hope it's moved in the last two weeks. And I hope yours moves too!

That is what all my books said too and I was one of the lucky 90% too. They found my placenta previa during the 12 week ultrascreen and by the Level II it had moved.

I am in the same boat as you... low lying placenta. They saw it at the 20 week ultrasound. i go back for another ultrasound at 28 weeks.
I was told no sex and no heavy lifting. (told this after we moved and I had been moving boxes!)
Placenta moving vibes all around!!!

Should I be worried that I wasn't told to be on pelvic rest?

Maybe you should call your doc just to be on the safe side. The nurse in the ER repeated, "Nothing in the vagina" like 5 times before we left. DH and I were like, ok we get it!
