As I understand it, the original topic was the posting of homes that are affordable. I think this is a valuable commodity on this board and I believe the poster does this on a regular basis. I commend her for doing what she does because she seems to go to a great deal to bring this information to the forefront and I, am sure, helps a good many people. However, when one is posting in this fashion, or any other for that matter, one must be careful of what they say. People take this poster seriously and if she makes a comment about a certain area that is perceived as negative, there may be some who will take her at her word and may pass on a golden opportunity that awaits them. If one is not certain about an area, just say so. I believe that would be more beneficial than just a blanket statement. Just my opinion; no drama intended.

I completely agree with the above -

however with the whole "why dont you like Levittown" drama a few days ago , I can just see it snowballing unnecesarily.

I just wouldnt get devensive over it - I am from Farmingdale and have heard bad things about the town and SD on here. I had a great time growing up here and thought the SD was excellent - I never saw violence, walk at night by myself, yet people who dont live there say otherwise. When people say bad stuff, I ususally say, "well I live there and I like it because XXXX" - instead of "how dare you say that" or something to that effect.

you know what they say, opinions are like A$$holes, everyones got one!

Patchogue Village is not run down. Have you been to Patchogue lately???????? Chat Icon

I can't stand it when comments are made about an area being a certain way when they have no idea what they are talking about.

Actually, yes I have. I worked there for 5 or 6 years & now my business manager has an office there that I go to about every other week. That's a schedule I've been keeping for about two years. I did not mean to insult anyone, I live in a town that is a favorite for critisism. I was NOT talking about the homes, I was talking about my OPINION of the village shopping area. I'm a big believer in people NOT giving a rats a$$ about what OTHER people hold as their standard, but I do believe people CAN have opinions. I see how my statement could have seemed offensive & I apologize for that. it was my intention to help people, not upset anyone.

Sure people can have opinions, did I ever say they couldn't? Chat Icon

But you have to realize that making a statement about a town being "rundown" is going to create a response from a person who lives in that area.

I am not offended by it, I just want people who may be looking in that area to know that it is a wonderful town to live in. And of course there are areas in Patchogue that are not as nice as others, but most towns have that anyway.

You would have better knowledge than me, because you live there. I will apolgize again, for saying something that seemed so negative. I understand why you feel the way you do.

this one is good too

yard needs work, but the kitchen is gorgeous, 2 bathrooms and a basement! also a great SD!

ETA: I would offer 10% below asking. maybe even less if it's been sitting a while

This one is right under huge power lines; I know someone who lives on this street.

I LOVE the Patchogue house in Kelly's first post.

This one is not RIGHT under the power lines it is one block off of them. It is 2 houses in from Ronkonkoma Ave. My friend lives right next door to the house in the post.
