Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
Do you ever wonder if there are lurkers here... And exactly WHY would they lurk?

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
i guess on LIW i understood why people lurked... they can get a lot of info without the convo for their wedding... but here....seems weird to me

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
Since this is a public forum, I can only imagine that MANY people lurk and read but don't feel comfortable posting..
I know that I do lurk on some boards that i am interested in BUT feel I have no contribution to make, but otherwise I'm all over the place

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
Yes I'm not sure what anyone would get out of reading NWR or NFR boards w/out posting really .. since it is just general laughs/ conversation and current event /celebrity types of posts .. or just otherwise supporting each other sorts of thigns
I can see lurking on TTC/pregnancy/etc , since there is a lot of good information on those forums - I know I lurked over on TTC before I was actually "TTC" and I felt that I learned a lot of the lingo/info that way..
I guess I'm such a big mouth, though, that i'll never truly "get" how you could lurk for a LOONG time w/out posting seems weird to ME but that is because I am a post-a-holic

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
To spy on people? Or maybe they're just bored.
Sometimes I lurk on the LIW boards just to see posts from girls still planning their weddings, some of them are funny...things like "OMG!!! My table linens totally CLASH with the color nail polish I was gonna wear!! Should I book another hall??!"
Stuff like that

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
I actually lurk more than I post. It's not spying, it's not being rude, it's just that when I am at work, I generally don't have the time to type out a post, yet, I enjoy reading some of the threads as a brain killer between projects. And sometimes I may feel I have nothing to add to a thread, yet I find them interesting. So sometimes I lurk and sometimes I post a lot on one day and surprise myself.

I'm sure everyone is a little bit of a lurker...everyone had their own reasons for it too.

i am not really talking about frequent posters lurking on different boards but rather real lurkers

Humm...stalker-lurkers LOL In that case I go back to my original therory - they're bored. But IMO its more entertaining to get involved with posts (if you have time).

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
Well, I was sort of a lurker in the beginning because I wanted to see what the different forums were about. After lurking for like a day, I became a member and now post occasionally and comment on postings that I find funny or feel that I can add to them. I was never on LIW but an old co-worker of mine was when she was planning her wedding and she told me about LIF so that's when I came to see what it was all about. I really like it here, everyone is very nice and I definitely have learned a few things from the postings.

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
I once had someone lurk through over 1600 of my posts (on LIW), and get upset at me about it... especially when I vented about her. I wouldn't be surprised if she was on here lurking, too... wanting to know about things that I haven't told her.
What's weird is that I felt that it was an invasion of privacy (because she read through each post I posted, even ones that had nothing to do with her)... even though I'm on a public board... lololol

Re: Lurkers (spinoff from ttc)
Definite Lurkers...maybe to read up on people they know, spy on people, use things as ammunition against them. You never know there are psychos out there and this is a public board.
