I think my powerbook g4 (Elvis) is on his way out...

My husband & I are DJing a wedding this wknd, and I was burning some CDs... EVERY OTHER CD, the CD drive makes this loud buzzing sound during the Initilizing... then a LOUDER buzz during the 'writing'... It only writes the first song, and then finishes...

I bought this Mac in 2004... How long do you generally update your notebooks?

I'm a little excited with the idea of buying a Mac Book

(Leopard - [drOOL])

but to be perfectly honest, money is tight these days so I would much rather not spend the $ and am hoping Elvis has a few more years before I give up on him...

It's only the CD burner that has the *illness* right now, so I guess I really don't NEED a new one, but then again... DH & I have a side business DJing so it kind of IS a necessity.

We don't have a desktop... Just Elvis

SOOOOOOO my (long winded) questions are:

1. How long do you generally update your notebooks?

2. WWYD?

3. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE?

many thanks...

power to the macs

1. I still have my ibook laptop from '02 or '03 (can't remember.. but it was soon after I graduated college that I got it)! It still runs as fast as the day I got it and hopefully it'll last a while longer. I hardly ever use the CD drive though.

2. I'd go to the mac store and bring your computer to the genius bar.

3. No idea, sorry!

I want the new Macbook also, but I have no reason to get it... YET! Chat Icon

Re: Mac users

I am not sure about macbooks specifically but for our G5 our hard drive bit the dust about 1 week after the 5 year warranty and they replaced it for us.
