Making slime - best recipe
I've decided to make slime with my 7 year old this weekend. When I google, the number of different recipes that come up is overwhelming. I'm guessing they're not all good. Anyone have a tried and true recipe they can share? TIA.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EW-kCr6geDA Does anyone know how this became a thing? My daughter says slime is a must have accessory, like, only losers don't have slime. AGH!

We use to make it when I was a kid! I we used only cornstarch, water, and food coloring and we just played around with the measurements to find the right consistency. BUT there are better recipes out there... my cousin's kids were making some concoction of glue, borax, and something else and it was more of a "true slime" albeit not safe to ingest. Ill see if I can get the recipe from them.

We were making slime before it was "cool" lol. We use borax, glue and water. Actually the Disney Cruise years ago is who gave us the idea! BUT, I just read something yesterday about a girl having severe health issues from breathing in the glue fumes, and possibly the borax. So I would limit it. I have put kabosh on it in our house for the time being. She was using up all my food coloring, my tupperware, my bags, mixing flour, etc. with it. Annoying mess!

I've tried a bunch (cornstarch, shaving cream & contact solution, body wash, etc.) and none seem to compare to when I use Borax. This is may favorite recipe...
Ingredients: 1 teaspoon Borax (you can find Boraxo in the laundry aisle) ½ cup warm water x 2 4oz. Glue Food coloring Instructions: 1) In the mixing bowl: Add the Borax and then stir in ½ cup of warm water until it has dissolved.
2) Pour the glue into a separate bowl or storage container and then stir in ½ cup of warm water. Mix well.
3) Slowly stir the Borax solution into the glue solution/storage container.
4) Add a few drops of food coloring and mix well.
5) Continue stirring until “slime” forms and all of the liquid is absorbed.
6) Place a lid on the storage container when finished.

Re: Making slime - best recipe
My daughter is obsessed. She has various recipes. I recently read something that says borax can be dangerous for kids and shouldn't be used in slime.
Every recipe she has calls for elmers glue. She does one fluffy slime with shaving cream elmers glue and saline solution.
As an aside, you can not get elmers glue anywhere near us. Every single store has been sold out. I ended up ordering a gallon from amazon.

I bought a gallon of glue at AC Moore recently...we need it for a paper mache project. It was like $12 with a coupon!
