I try to buy only fresh. I am buying organic...thats really the only reason for doing it....because I would rather buy organic jarred food then fresh veggies non organic b/c of the pesticides.
So if your doing fresh and not organic, I would stay clear of thinner skinned foods or just wash wash wash.
ok off my soapbox..
I find it hard in winter especially to find some fruits and veggies fresh.
So I buy frozen...stop and shop has a great organic frozen line thats cheap.
I bought peas and green beans and mixed beggies in that form.
It depends on the season...

I have been lucky enough to find nice fresh food so far but will buy frozen peas when I make them.
