Man charged with driving drunk with infant in car

BY JOHN VALENTI | [email protected]
7:37 AM EDT, June 2, 2008

A 27-year-old man was arrested in Water Mill after he drove drunk with his 1-month-old son in the car, Southampton Town Police said Monday.

The driver, Noe L. Sarmiento of Montauk, was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, police said, after he refused a breathalyzer test.

Police said Sarmiento was charged with a misdemeanor because it was his first offense. Sarmiento also was charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said they stopped Sarmiento at 11:19 p.m. Sunday on Montauk Highway and Windmill Lane in Water Mill. They said his infant son was in the rear seat of the car.

Re: Man charged with driving drunk with infant in car

Ya know, it's really annoying that people get off so easy with DWIs. DHs friend has been arrested TWICE for DWI, the second time while he was on probation for the first offense and had a suspended license. He did 3 days in jail I think, and that's only after the 2nd offense. It's ridiculous. What would possess anyone to put their child in danger?!?Chat Icon

It is HORRIBLE!

My friend was hit and killed by a drunk driver. The driver here illegally served less then a year.

Re: Man charged with driving drunk with infant in car

most drunk driving arrests are misdemenors that get knocked down to violations

maybe if they made it a felony - that would scare people alot more then there picture in the paper

it would mean you had to always disclose you were arrested for a felony on a job application for the rest of your life

people forget pictures- it's not like I was walking around the mall with a copy looking for the people that got arrested

just a thought!

Chat Icon Glad he was caught. If he was my husband, he'd lucky if he gets jail. At least he'd be protected.
