Man, I'd love to work for Google..
This year, every single employee will get a salary increase of 10% or more, AND a $1,000 cash holiday bonus.
...of course, the guy who leaked this to the press has swiftly been fired, but still.
good news for investors, as well
smart move, google!!!

How can they pin that on one person that "leaked" the info?
I'm sure everyone went home and told their spouse. It could have been anyone who spread the word around.

Re: Man, I'd love to work for Google..
i know that those things are done for the sake of having the employee working longer/harder
but i'll say this: if more employers gave a fraction of what google does, there would be a lot more people willing to do more in return.

Re: Man, I'd love to work for Google..
A friend of mine works for Google and loves it.
Personally, if my job had any of those amenities, I'd work harder and wouldn't mind being there all the time. As it is right now, I catch flack if I try to go to a doctor's appt during work hours.

Yup. Forget taking a sick day at Google. Especially when they have the doctor on site.
You work very long hours with Google. Granted you get compensated for it and there is an element of prestige with working for Google.
But it isn't as cracked up as it's made out to be.

If I could get all of those benefits, I'd certainly be happy to work more. As it is I often work a great deal of "overtime". I love my company, but they don't provide a fraction of the benefits Google does. 100% paid 12 week maternity leave, plus an additional 6 weeks if you're with the company so many years? 25 vacation days for people with 6+ years? Expense $500 for take-out meals when home with your newborn? Sure you can have a few extra hours out of my day!

wow the 500 take-out is nice. I don't see that really at all in any companies.
Sure some on the spot amenities they have are meant to keep you working harder or longer... but at least you are getting something for it. My company would love for you to work 24 hours a day, yet they will ONLY pay you for 8 of those hours and of course make you stay a min of 9 hrs per day bc you don't get paid for lunch, even if you work through it. We don't even get overtime, regardless of having to work it.
There's a good and bad to everything; overall I think there are for sure worse companies to work for.....

Re: Man, I'd love to work for Google..
They own you.
And my I get 100% pay for maternity leave for 16 weeks.
There's also paternal leave.
we don't get a stipend for take out food though..That's nice and everything but I think of me working 16 hour days I would gadly give that up.
Just saying..the grass is always greener.

Re: Man, I'd love to work for Google..
These benefits (and the others) are all great. However, like a PP said, the "kids" (MOST employees are new graduates) work their butts off and are all top of their class at the most prestigious schools. Companies like this don't offer jobs to just anyone
