mandatory c section class at Good Sam
Well, i was wondering if anyone is going to good sam and when you are going? I think DH and I are going tomorrow night.
why is it mandatory?

i did it two weeks ago, its a waste of time but u have to do it. it only lasted like 45 minutes not two hours

I was told it's mandatory if you are having your hubby or someone else in the room - I guess its to prep them for things that might happen?

Nobody- you have to call and make an appt.
I was told I had to take it regardless of scheduled C or not. It was a big fat waste of time, and DH asked around at the hospital to those who did have a C and nobody was asked for their certificate.

i just had my lamaze on Saturday and they told us that the C-Section class is mandatory for EVERYONE..even if its not a scheduled c-section.
**IF YOU DO NOT SHOW UP FOR THIS CLASS YOUR DH WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE ROOM WITH YOU.**
ETA: From what I heard if you don't take the class they will know bc you will be asking questions about the paperwork that you would know about from the class.

I had a c-section and did not take the class- although I had already had a c-section previously at a different hospital.
My doctor said it was BS and to not worry about it.

they told me it was mandatory but they never have asked anyone i know who had a csection there to produce the paperwork. We went regardless but i dont thnk you really have to. i wasn't willing to risk it though.

they said it was mandatory --- but i ended up with an emergency c section three weeks early -- we had taken the course and gotten the certificate and of course not had it with us --- and it was never mentioned or asked for...
and as my DH had said "let them try to keep me out of that room when DD was born"
so i wouldnt worry about it - i think they just want more people to be prepared about what they might see
