Manual or Electric pump for infrequent pumping
I EBF but am considering pumping and trying DS with a bottle on occasions. I have looked at both the medela harmony and the other single electric medela.
There isn't a huge price diffrence as they are both on sale on one site - I think its diapers.com.
Which would you recommend?
Does one hurt more than the other?
If you have other reco's for other pumps please let me know also.
This side of BF is so new to me I will have a ton of q's.
Thanks SO much

Re: Manual or Electric pump for infrequent pumping
See thats what I am afraid of!! him not taking it from a bottle. Is there a cut off time where you should introduce a bottle by? he is 3 months now.
TIA

This is what I used. I switched to a very expensive electric pump when I had Noah.. but HATED it and went back to my trusty Isis.
Neither hurt my boobs (which may be made of steel) - but the Isis did sometimes give me a hand cramp... which allowed me to commiserate with my husband to some extent..
ETA: I don't know if there is a cut off time but I would be prepared to try a few different types of nipples and bottles. Robbie was easy - but with Noah we went through more than a few different nipples until he settled on Avent.

I had a LOT of milk.. and I sometimes wound up pumping for quite some time which is why I got the cramp sometimes. I really loved the handpump and HATED the electric. But my gf loved the electric so it's a personal preference thing. I'd give the Isis a try. It's quiet and inexpensive and if you hate it you haven't wasted a ton of money.

Re: Manual or Electric pump for infrequent pumping
I'm barely pumping and was when I had Bella and I was MUCH happier that I spent the $$ on an electric one.

I use this one too. My nips are too sensitive for the electric. With the electric I would start low but the level I had to have it on to get milk out was painful and ripped up my nips. But the manual never hurt me.
