Mask Question - Plumber

The plumber is coming to my unit to fix the toilet, I have to wear a mask right? I’m realizing as I type this, that it’s a yes.

I haven’t thought about it since no one has been to my house since Feb/March.
So we don’t wear masks inside. Didn’t realize that until now lol. I hope I don’t get too excited for the new company and invite him for dinner.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Mask Question - Plumber

Oh jeez. I'd lock myself in the other room, say- LET YOURSELF IN- and stay away from him.
I have a full on panic attack when i put a mask on.
I can't breathe

I know I hate them too, that’s why my DH does everything now. But I have to show him which bathroom and give him the parts. I also don’t trust my son would stay in the room.

I’m so annoyed DH is at work. But our toilet was recalled because there’s a chance it can explode if you don’t replace these parts. Only I would have a toilet that could detonate like a bomb.Chat Icon

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon That's some recall!
Yeah I make DH do everything- I can't wear one.
In your case I'd put it on- let him in, show him everything and give him the parts and then high tail it away from him and rip that nasty thing off and hide until he was ready to leave and repeat.
LOL

I know it is. And the way my DH told me was so matter of fact. “I just put in a call to the manufacturer of our toilet because we need to replace some parts or else it will explode.” Very monotone. Lol.

Yea, that’s exactly what I am doing hanging out in the living room, he’s in my room.

Mask Question - Plumber

I had a plumber over. He wore a mask. I stayed at least 10 feet away and when I had to come closer maybe for him to show me something I put my mask on.

Mask Question - Plumber

I can see why the plumber would want to put on a mask but why u? If u were infected, the “germs” would be everywhere in ur house already.

My mask is for me to protect him. So if I have it, I can’t give it to him when I’m near him or speaking with him.

The chance of the plumber getting it from touching my toilet or items in my home is less likely. My mask is suppose to protect him from my droplets. In my opinion I don’t think the mask are as effective as they are saying they are. But I follow the rules and help others to feel at ease.

I get the sense of protection and wanting to help others but how realistically effective is it when the microorganisms are on most of ur surfaces already. To me it gives a false sense of security.

I agree with you, that’s why I said I don’t think the masks are effective. But this is the guidelines they are setting and actually I realized after posting this, that it’s an actual rule in my building.

But I agree. I think masks and gloves are a false sense of security. I only wore it to show him the bathroom, and give him the check.

He was actually really nice & down to Earth, which, has nothing to do with anything. But it was refreshing.

I work for a coop, since you said unit I'm assuming you live in one? We won't let our plumbers into units unless the residents have masks on and we tell them when they make their appointments to keep social distance. In turn our plumbers are wearing mask, gloves, shoe coverings.

Gloves are the biggest false sense of security.
Unless we find the virus can absorb through your skin, there is no reason to wear them.
They may even spread the virus more- by it sticking better to latex, plastic, etc than our own skin.
Wash your hands.
