Just found out my 1 kid will have to wear a mask indoors for school. Not sure about the other one.
College-aged kids have some of the lowest vaccination rates (because I’m sure it’s all a big joke to them and they are invincible and know everything) so I can see mandating masks for school.
I don’t know any college kid who has that attitude honestly and I think SUNY and CUNY is doing this to push the vaccines as they can’t require them until they are approved by the FDA.
They are "doing this" because EVERYONE who is not vaccinated is still supposed to be wearing a mask anywhere indoors when distancing is not possible. I know most people aren't following that rule, but it is still in place. This should not be news to anyone. The fact that you "just found out" speaks volumes
So I'm confused- do only unvaccinated college students have to wear masks? If you can prove you're vaccinated can you attend class maskless?
Depends on the rules of each particular college. But wearing masks for unvaccinated, anywhere, has never been eliminated
I know. However most signage now says strongly recommended for non vaccinated people- not required- so not sure what the actual mandate is. Recommended does not mean required. So they make it a fine line
In NYS there no longer is a mandate in most places. Businesses may set their own rules.
Exceptions include public transit, k-12 schools, nursing homes, and a bunch of other similar type places. Not college, although SUNY/CUNY might have a thing going on.
I have seen signs on doors ranging from "strongly recommended for unvaccinated" to "required for unvaccinated" to the occasional "masks required for all." I just read the sign on the door to make sure before I go maskless just in case. Although I try to just avoid going to stores period for a bunch of different reasons lol.
I honestly have not seen one store that says masks required to come in, in awhile. Doctors and dentists, absolutely.
I said occasional. I saw the sign at JCP just the other day. I assumed it was old, but I wore the mask in case it wasn't.
I am sure the other sign was with it. Was everyone else in there wearing masks? That is how you usually can tell.
There was one sign about masks. It said "masks required to enter" or some such phrase.
I can't say for sure because I wasn't there that long and I don't really give a shit either way, but if I had to hazard a guess I would say a little more than half the people had masks on.
You are vaccinated?
Yes
More of a reason to not even bother with one but to each their own.
You do know that private businesses can set their own policies, right? And if that is the policy of a store, why wouldn't you follow it? The store had a sign posted requiring a mask. The poster wore a mask. What is your problem with that? You don't want to wear one, don't go there. Period. End. Of. Story.
Did you even read her response? You are so ready to attack me about not wearing a mask that you didn’t see she didn’t even notice because she was running in and out. I have NEVER said ONCE I have a problem with a business making that rule AND abiding by it. You need to follow your poster name and CHILL lol
It’s actually you who misread my response. I very specifically noticed the sign. I put the mask on in accordance with the posted policy.
You then asked if a lot of people were wearing masks and that’s what I didn’t pay much attention to so I just estimated
“There was one sign about masks. It said "masks required to enter" or some such phrase. “
You don’t really know what it says because you didn’t stop long enough to read it which is fine as you wear a mask regardless it seems, to each their own once again.

I am, too. And it might horrify some people (not you, JennP) to know that my parents were told today -- BY THEIR DOCTOR -- that they should be double masking on public transportation. They are both fully vaccinated and healthy (knock on wood). This isn't over, no matter how much everyone wants it to be. I get looks when I wear masks in stores that don't require it. I don't care. They can choose not to wear one just as much as I can choose TO wear one. Better safe than sorry is always my motto.

My doctor recommended masks indoors for everyone, vaccinated or not, since the Delta variant is so prevalent right now. He hopes the mask mandate is reinstated. I read that some of the world's top virology experts expect the world to be dealing with this pandemic for the next 2-3 years. That means there will be periods of masking, social distancing, and business restrictions, followed by periods of low transmission when these things can be temporarily lifted. It sucks and nobody likes it, but it is what it is. I was a mental case back in 2020. It was really bad. My anxiety and depression were out of control. I needed to step back and realize I can't control this virus. I can't control what restrictions are placed on us to keep everyone healthy. All I can do is do my part, by getting vaccinated and wearing my mask, and hoping for the best. My 5 yr old HATES the mask and whines every single time she has to put it on. But I just explain to her that life is full of situations where you will have to do something you don't want to do. And in those situations, the best thing to do is not complain and make the best of the situation you've been given.

But here’s my question….at what point do we learn to live with Covid, like the flu and other seasonal illnesses??
These variants are not proving to be any more deadly. They believe they are just transmitted easier. What is the end point? Are we just going to continue to live like this and have healthy people scared of a virus that we can treat, and have a vaccine for?

Probably when we can get to a point where COVID behaves like the flu and is not overwhelming hospitals. Right now hospitals are doing very well, and I am hopeful it will stay that way. But if hospitals go back to the way they were in 2020, there may not be a choice but to reinstate some restrictions. With something like COVID, and the delta variant does cause more severe illness, learning to live with it could have catastrophic consequences. I am not saying I don't see what you are saying, I do. There will be a point where we have to live with it and move on, and I do know that day will come. It just seems that this virus mutates like crazy and each mutation makes it more transmissible and, with this latest variant, more serious. Parts of the south and midwest are surging again. This whole thing just stinks.

It won’t end until people turn off the tv, stop reading the news, take care of themselves and live life. Stay home when sick. I knew people before this super OCD with germs and I can’t imagine how they must be now. Add the media scaring them more and you have a society of depressed, anxiety ridden people.

Cases are surging? Or hospitalization is surging? I’m really just following NY, and barely because I’m exhausted from the whole thing. I know cases are going up but less are being hospitalized or dying from all these variants.
I guess we just have to hope that those who are at risk and vaccinated continue to be protected from these new variants and hopefully we can treat it like the flu.

Yes

I stopped watching the news as I can’t deal anymore as I do watch the numbers for NY and no deaths in 1 week in Suffolk which is awesome. The media knows they can scare people and journalism is not what it used to be when you watched the news in the 70’s and 80’s. It is sad. We need to teach people how to stay healthy and that is NEVER in these stories. Pushing a vaccine with free crap instead of making it optional and helping people get healthier. Teach things like serving sizes, what are healthy foods and what you should be eating and drinking each day. People don’t know these simple things.

Masks Optional for Summer School
At the end of the day, none of us have control over the future. We have no control over what the government will do. We can all say we think we have to just live with it and move on, but the reality is that is not how this is going to play out if this gets bad again. Us not wanting the restrictions won't stop them from happening. So I would rather do everything I can do to stop the spread, so we never have to face that again.

You can wear a mask forever and vaccinate every year of that will be the plan and hope for the best. Life is too short to be paranoid and anxious over everything in life. You have to pick your battles and live life. It has been wonderful the last few months and everyone is so much happier. Be safe and healthy and you will be much happier :)

My biggest thing is that I want numbers. I get it, if hospitals become overwhelmed we have to go back to certain restrictions. But what is that number? Why is it secret. Is there no plan and we are trusting people who are taking it day by day? I just want to stop aiming at a moving target and I want to know what numbers will put us back in masks. What numbers will close certain things. I think that is part of the anxiety, we are all out of the loop and left speculating and arguing with each other.

For the love of ALL that is holy.
I stopped long enough to read it.
IT SAID MASKS WERE REQUIRED.
My use of the words "some such phrase" was to indicate that I do not recall the exact WORDING but I do recall the exact MEANING.
As in it could have said "Everyone please wear a mask."
I looked for the sign because I generally don't wear a mask if I don't have to, with some exceptions. A nearly empty JCP isn't one of them. So I remember the meaning of the sign.
You have the last word. I will not respond further.
In fact, I am literally never responding to you again. I have genuinely tried to be nice to you but between the weird stalkerish research shit you pull along with your complete lack of reading comprehension, logical reasoning, and inference skills, we're done here. I will do my best to never, ever even read your posts again. My eyeballs might stray towards them but it will be an accident. If they do, it will be like when there is a plumber under your sink and you accidently look at his ass crack. You were trying to avoid the crack, but your dog started barking and distracted you, then you turned your head, and there it was. The crack. Oops.

You don’t really know what it says because you didn’t stop long enough to read it which is fine as you wear a mask regardless it seems, to each their own once again.
The crack. Oops.
Well just so you know for your next trip there, masks are not required so you are free to shop without them if you choose :)
Talk to you soon :)

How do you even know which JCP she went to? She went to the store. Read the sign. Complied with the sign. How in God’s name do you not understand that. There is really something seriously wrong with your comprehension abilities.

Yes!!!! Nobody cares about a difference of opinion, everyone is entitled to have their own POV. It's the condescending, passive aggressive, stalking BS that makes her creepy AF and is what causes MANY people to repeatedly go back at her.
I have to say, and I mean no disrespect to WW, but I think you are giving her way more credit than is due. She is hardly condescending (unlike yourself who is constantly calling people "sweetie") and most of the info that you all claim is her "stalking" people, I usually just do a quick search and I come up with whatever info she is referencing. For example the most recent "out of state" thing - do a search for that poster and read her first post and it clearly states where she lives and how she came across the site. This is not rocket science and it's pretty basic internet skills.
Funny thing though, there are many of here who would wholeheartedly disagree with you. Perhaps instead of constantly quoting ONLY me in order to defend your little internet lap dog you should go back and address the countless threads and comments from many others who have REPEATEDLY called out VB's stalker like and creepy behaviors on this board.
If you want to keep your head in the sand about how toxic she is on these boards, more power to you. But your weird need to ALWAYS ignore every other comment from every other poster on here who is saying the SAME things as me about VB is kinda getting old. And sad.
See, I guess I latch on to you because I find you to be so bizarre. It's like you think you are the LIF police. Which, that's great, it seems like you don't really have all that much else going on in your life. But it's super sad to me. A normal adult human being would just ignore someone that they find creepy and a troll and a stalker. They would do exactly what you suggested and just ignore her. But you just can't seem to do it and I am somewhat immature so I just can't help myself from pointing it out every single time.
I’m dying at your last line, own it girl! I’m the same, this site brings out my immaturity as well.
Never forget the time when we were at each other’s throats last year and had to take time off from the site because of it and now I love your posts!! Proof that people can change if we listened and respected each other more.
Same!!!

Mask rules for bigger stores has been out for months. It is no secret, it’s been all over. Also unless she went outside of LI, there are only 2 left here, unfortunately.

You really are a special kind of stupid. Businesses can set their own rules - what is it about that simple sentence you do not understand??? And maybe the sign was old and should have been removed, or maybe it wasn't and that was the rule of THAT store. The person who saw the sign, instead of being argumentative, just complied with what was posted - it's really not a big ask.
But according to you (who just admitted you don't watch any news sources), we should all go eat an apple, bury our heads in the sand and life will be grand. You do you, but don't expect anyone to think you are the source of all knowledge, or any knowledge.
And I really don't care if this post gets me kicked off - as we all know, I can just create a new screen name and I'll be right back.

The crack. Oops.
Well just so you know for your next trip there, masks are not required so you are free to shop without them if you choose :)
Talk to you soon :)
How do you even know which JCP she went to? She went to the store. Read the sign. Complied with the sign. How in God’s name do you not understand that. There is really something seriously wrong with your comprehension abilities.
Yes she did not really look and that was established. She was fine wearing one. I am indicating that at this store, it has been announced for awhile their rules. I don’t care if she wore one or not and you are actually making a bigger deal out of this than needed. Chill, chill.

SHE READ THE SIGN! It doesn't take more than 10 seconds to read a sign like that and the poster has now stated multiple times that she is 100% certain of the context of the sign, just not the EXACT language to quote it. YOU WERE NOT THERE! (unless your stalking has gone beyond the pages of LIF). There really is something wrong with you and your ability to comprehend things.
Go eat an apple, freak
