Growing pains was from Huntington. (they actually used the name Walt Whitman HS in one episode, but they changed the name of the HS after that)

I always thouht Growing Pains took place in Syosset - there have been references made to Syosset on the show!

My dad grew up in Massapequa and my aunt dated Brina Setzer back in the day. My dad had the Baldwin Father as a teacher too.

i went to massapequa high school and billy baldwin came to talk in one of our cllasses onetime
Same here - he came to our Contemporary Problems class (I think that was what it was called).

The Baldwin's father was my dad's history teacher in HS.
Jerry Seinfeld is in my dad's yearbook (freshman when my dad was a senior)
And my Aunt graduated with the Buttafuco's
In the area where they usually have activities, etc. it said "I love Mary Jo"

His Dad was my neighbor...
I grew up in massapequa.
My Uncle also shared dock space on his property with Joey Buttafuco. I forget now , but he had some stupid saying on the side of his boat...couldnt miss it from miles away....
Yeah the Baldwins Dad was a Social Studies Teacher for a while too in our Junior High ( Berner) .....And their Sister owned a Nail Salon on Sunrise Highway ( I dont think its there anymore) ....
Also the movie " Big" was partly shot at the Jr. High. Some of the kids from my school were "extras" in it...
And Born on the Fourth of July with Tom Cruise had scenes shot there. The main guy was from Massapequa.

I grew up in Massapequa and it is a well known fact about Baldwins being from there....Alec gave alot of money to the HS also probably why they named the gym after him.
My mom is friends with someone who is very close to Baldwin's mom. Alec is very close to his mother and his roots of LI and came back alot when she was going through her ordeal with breast cancer I believe it was.
Regarding Growing Pains, I remember them saying Massapequa in an episode also (and I was so excited because I was in junior HS at the time and hearing them say my town on a TV show was pretty cool)...it may have referred to the paper or something tha Maggie worked on in the later episodes. I think it was supposed to take place in Huntington or Syosset though.
Also, can't forget Jessica Hahn (noted for her sex scandal with that tv evangelist and also appeared in a music video with Sam Kinnison)

I met Billy Baldwin at JFK...
I thought I'd add to the Baldwin post..
He works out at my gym every morning. I once brought my dd to the cafe and he told me she was cute. They have a baby around my dd's age. I live in Westchester, so he must as well.

Yep. My cousin's wife grew up with Daniel Baldwin. At the time (school years) Alec was known as Zander. LOL.
