maternity leave
DH and I are becoming foster parents in hopes of adopting very soon. Has anyone gone through this? Did you take a maternity leave when placed with your first child?

Check with your employer they may have adoption benefits that include leave. You may be eligible for an FMLA leave

My husband and I are adopting our son from China. My employer is giving me 12 weeks off for FMLA. I am entitled to the same benefits as a woman giving birth.

My employer gives FMLA leave (12 weeks unpaid) plus I believe 8 weeks paid, plus adoption assistance. Doesnt hurt to ask!
