Maternity leave and summer pay question
Question for NYC DOE employees.
Will my summer pay be calculated including the 6 weeks that I was being paid for Maternity leave? Or will they calculate it using the day I went out?
So if I took 12 weeks will my summer pay be calculated less 6 or 12 weeks?

Re: Maternity leave and summer pay question
as long as you are still on payroll at the end of may you will be paid over the summer.
summer vacation will not count against your FMLA.
for example, i went out June 7. i burned 3 weeks in June and couldve (but didnt) take 9 weeks starting the first day of school.

sorry to barge in on your question...but do you know for a fact that summer vaca does not count against you?? I had my son back in May of 07. Now that my tenure is coming up (I took another full year off in 08 for my other son) they are trying to tell me that my tenure date is pushed back 2 months because I took the summer of 07 off.

Thanks...but this is not what I am asking. I don't think i worded the question right. I had the baby in October...so I will be going back to work after 12 weeks. Just curious about how my Summer pay will then be computed b/c it is based on a full 10months. So will my summer checks be less 1.5 months or 3 months.

Re: Maternity leave and summer pay question
Your summer pay will be reduced because you were off payroll for the last 6 weeks of your leave. I think mine was about $300 per paycheck less for the summer.

Re: Maternity leave and summer pay question
My payroll sec said we only get 6 weeks if it is a V birth and 8 weeks for a C sect as per the school. As per ins we get 12 weeks. So we only get paid for those 6 or 8 weeks....
If I have your question correct, you took 12 weeks off for your pregnancy.... you will be deducted for 6 weeks over the summer if you had a V birth and 4 weeks if you had a C section.
