maternity photos- are you doing them?

A friend from high school (jaclyn noelle photography) is an amazing photographer and I've gone ahead and had her pencil me in for newborn shots b/c those are a must for me! (i'm a picture freak!)

She asked me about maternity photos.....I'm up in the air about it. I would love to capture the moment but then what do you do with them? I did boudoir pics for DH for his 30th, so I'm kinda of like how many photos do I need of myself LOL


Tell me why you did them? or why you didn't? or why you won't? or why you are going too?

Ahem....as Ive mentioned to you. Didnt do them bc we didnt have the money at the time. Do I regret not doing them....most of the time no. Only when I see other womens, then I get over it.

Ummm, for free you could have Bunny do them. She offered to do mine, but we could never get our schedules together.

nope, not for me.

i'm not comfortable with myself in this state...i have stretchmarks and i just feel huge.

newborn photos are a MUST for me, though.

i kinda though jaclyn noelle was "one of us" - i just never knew who it was!

no, never...

prior to pregnancy - i hated photos of myself (severe self esteem issues)....and now - i feel no differently. even in our vacation photos - they're ALL dave...

newborn photos - already booked!!!

I originally wanted to do them but realized it was not worth the money. I know the pictures would only be enjoyed by DH & I, so I opted to have my mom take some unprofessional pictures of me at our lakehouse that I can keep as momentos.

Now Newborn pictures, I already booked SummerLyn bc to me, these are pictures that our entire family can enjoy plus I love the Anne Geddes poses!

well i pics!!!!!!!!!!!! i had budoir pics done for DH & I gave them to him before his bachelor party.
I am scheduled with SummerLynn for newborn pics of our love in August & I'm scheduled for June 28 with Sandra for maternity pics.
I am getting them done because I feel great during this pregnancy, I never thought I would feel this wonderful but I do, my skin cleared up, I didn't gain that much weight so why not. If I felt like crap I probably wouldn't be too crazy about getting them done.

I did them with Leslie Simmons Photography and I was soooooo happy that I did. I actually planned on doing boudior pictures for my first anniversary gift, but then I got pregnant. Oops.

So I kinda combined the maternity pics with boudior pics, which was really scary b/c I never felt particularly sexy before being pregnant, never mind afterwards. But I really loved how the pictures turned out. I was only about 4 months pregnant at the time, so I did look pregnant, but I was a lot smaller than I am now. I will have my newborn shots done by the same person.

If I didn't do pictures then, I would definitely do maternity pictures now. You don't have to show any skin that you want to. I just see it as the pictures are a way to capture this special time in my life (sappy, but true).

Nope, I won't even let people take pictures of me right now . I am overweight PP and feel insecure enough as it is. Maybe if I didn't gain so much weight before my BFP I would have , but not now.

No I don't plan on it. I haven't even taken belly pictures either...I think I will make DH take one of me next week after my level 2 and maybe one more towards the end so I can see how big I got but that's it...I still don't even have my wedding album or loose prints done yet and I got married 1.5 years ago, I am so bad. I do however love the newborn pics, but am not decided on that yet either.

Nope I'm not, mostly because I don't want to spend the money on them. I'm a stick to a budget type of person, and for myself it wasn't a necessary expense. I love pics and take a bunch on my camera at home though, and if I could get them for free I'd be all over it!

I actually attempted to do a few of myself around 27 weeks. (i'm one of the photo vendors on this site-Shira Z but never felt comfortable saying so since there are so many other talented photographers here already)
Its definitely not for everyone but I think they are a great memory if you're up for it. My parents think its totally weird (they don't get a lot of things these days) but my husband really liked them. I felt a little funny even posing for myself but I'm glad I did it and I wish I had done it again later on but now at 37 weeks its just not happening!!!!! I posted a few on my blog
a while back but none of the sexier ones b/c I didn't want my parents to see

We recently got a really awesome Nikon DSLR camera so we're going to do our own maternity photos, maybe at the beach one evening.

No- I'm not doing them. I don't think they are worth the money. Newborn pics I believe are a must-have!

My sister had a professional camera her DH got her for Christmas last year, so maybe she can use me as a learning subject and take a few...

YES! i am doing them because i didn't last time around and this is likely my last pregnancy.

i don't feel particularly good about how i look, but i do want to capture this time in my life.

i have no idea what i will do with them. overall i dislike photos of myself so i certainly won't display them in my home or anything... probably they'll end up in a box for me to look at when i reminisce about this period in my life

For me no, I am soo not comfortable with the way i look in photos pre preggo and now. So the maternity photos are a no no for me.
The newborn photos will be done in the hospital.

i dont plan on it. i dont see this as my sexy phase...even tho im hardly showing right now. but i definitely want to do newborn shots!

I dont think so.

I think they are beautiful, but I'm assuming they are a few hundred dollars ? Personally, I wouldn't spend that money. Also, Where would these photos be going ? I'm not one to hang my belly on the wall..
I think it falls under the category of the wedding album, beautiful, expensive.... but never gets looked at.



I might force DH to take a few.
