May have ACCIDENTALLY eaten a few bites of turkey cold cuts...
I asked for turkey in my salad yesterday (assuming it would be fresh turkey) and a few bites in I thought..."You can't cut fresh turkey into CUBES!!" I assume it was cut up from a block of cold cuts? Anywho I didn't eat anymore of it (just picked at the rest of the salad). But after the whole listeria thread yesterday-now I'm slightly nervous.
I am definitely going to bring it up at the doctor next week (even though DH will make fun of me), but would you all be overly concerned? It was from a deli from my job that is always busy. I know some people are super comfortable eating cold cuts, and even my doctor said it was fine-if from a clean place...but I'm an overly neurotic freak and planned on avoiding them.

Don't get worried. There are very high standards for cold cuts in the US. I have them all of the time.

i ate cold cuts with both my kids and they were fine. i try to heat the cold cuts to eliminate the chance of listeria but having it once in awhile is fine.

I ate a huge ham sandwich a few weeks ago. I know people who eat it all the time. A few bites of anything is not going to harm you. Try not to worry.
For the record- last night I had two WONDERFUL sips of my husband's beer and almost had an oragasm. Tiny bits of anything shouldn't have any affects...

If it was from a deli in the middle of nowhere that has no traffic I might be concerned. But if it is from a busy place, try not to worry.
I eat a turkey sandwich pretty much everyday for lunch. I avoided coldcuts with pg #1, but with this one I eat them all the time.

Re: May have ACCIDENTALLY eaten a few bites of turkey cold cuts...
I am one of those crazies who doesn't eat anything that we aren't 'suppose' to eat or suggest not to eat or whatever. As soon as someone tells me something bad about it, my mind won't let me eat it. So when I see everyone on here saying 'I had a turkey sandwich for lunch' I am thinking in my head bad bad person, but my other side is saying JOANNA YOUR CRAZY!
So now you can all be like wow this girl is nuts!

I accidentally ate like 5 salami sandwiches, lol, so I wouldn't worry. I thought they were from a fresh roasted salami- until I realized that didn't exist...

Re: May have ACCIDENTALLY eaten a few bites of turkey cold cuts...
Don't worry- not making fun of u at all. To be honest I got paranoid like that up until I was around 18 weeks. Then I just wanted a salami sandwich so bad I was like whatever... If you read listeria statistics it will make u feel a LOT better. I'm not saying it's not serious b/c I know someone on here recently knew someone who got it- but it is SO rare- I wouldn't worry!!

Re: May have ACCIDENTALLY eaten a few bites of turkey cold cuts...
you're fine. i ate Turkey & Roast Beef cold cuts throughout my entire pregnancy... I told my doctor I ate them and didn't consider them "cold cuts" and he agreed.. (b/c the turkey breast and roast beef are like cuts of meat that are cooked and not processed KWIM?)..
Of course, all docs are different- but mine was OK w/ this and as I said I ate them like 2-3x a week and just had a healthy baby boy!

Re: May have ACCIDENTALLY eaten a few bites of turkey cold cuts...
I distinctly remember having an italian hero from Subway during my last pregnancy... and ate and enjoyed every single bite.
And I put turkey slices in my salads after my 6th month when my doctor complained about my weight gain (see italian hero referenced above, lol). Every day for a MONTH I had a salad with turkey in it.
DD is fine.
