Meals away from home..which is better?

Ds is in the high chair at home...but I cant decide what is better for a weekend away ( where there is no highchair) or a restaurant etc....

What do you think?

DS is 5 1/2 months and 17lbs. I think well use it for a while...

I have the first one and have used that one very easily when we went to family. I now use it as dd's "big" girl seat everyday. She doesn't want to sit in her highchair anymore so this keeps her safe.

Re: Meals away from home..which is better?

Be careful with the second one because it doesn't always fit under a table. My kitchen table has wood under it so that chair would not be able to latch on to it. KWIM??

I have the second one and it's amazing! It folds flat, so it's gret for storage in the trunk, sets up easily, and is nice and soft for her to sit in.
And it looks like she's floating in the air when it's attached to the table.

Does the first one let the child be at level with you..i feel like if I sit that on a chair...DS will still be seeing under the table???

It attaches to the chair, with DD, it puts her right about table height...

We used the first one at DSs grandparent's house in Florida. It worked well. The other doesn't look so safe, but maybe that's me.

We have both and honestly havent used the second one in months! I dont like to use it on tables if they arent totally stable and that is a lot of restaurants.

Re: Meals away from home..which is better?

I have the first one (2 of them) and I love it.

I keep on in the car and I use one instead of a high chair to save room.

DS doesn't give us any problems sitting in it and it works if we strap it to a chair at a table or place him in a booth next to us (it doesnt get strapped to anything)

We have a family member who used the first one and was very happy with it. I plan on borrowing or buying that one when the time comes.

I have the 1st one and use it everywhere, even at home sometimes. I love it and would def recommend it. My DS is on the bigger side and he is now 2 and still uses it.

I like #1. I have that one and a Chicco seat similar to the second one. I think I can and will use #1 more.

Re: Meals away from home..which is better?

I think that #1 is more versatle. You can use it later on without the trays as a booster seat right at the table with you, for when you are done with the high chair.

Re: Meals away from home..which is better?

I have the first one...I keep it in my car! DD is not a fan of high-chairs in restaurants, so sometimes I use this so she is sitting at the table with us and she will sit for a little longer.

Re: Meals away from home..which is better?

I have both and while I like the 2nd one better, I've gotten more use out of the 1st one. I was a bit worried using the hook on one on tables that were pedestal tables (but did use if if the table was sturdy). But the main problem with the 2nd was that DD just got too tall for it too quickly. By the time she was about a year, I couldn't slide her in without breaking her knees. Other than that main reason, I really loved my hook on better. I liked that she was right up to the table with us and it was so easy to care for her at the table. Also, in booths, we were able to put her in the booth rather than having her in a highchair in the aisle of the place.
