Med Question
Would you order extra meds that your insurance covered for a friend who didn't have coverage for that particular med?
I'm not talking about having something leftover and donating it to someone, but specifically ordering more of something to give...

Re: Med Question
well in reality I would be the friend since I get nothing covered
but to answer your question, I probably would for a real friend - if I know I can make one thing in this merry go round of IF/IVF easier for her - why not help?
the only way I'd say is if we could both go to jail

Re: Med Question
I definitely would...the drug companies are taking huge advantage of us, and the insurance companies need to be more supportive of infertility issues...but until these problems are worked out, yes I think we owe it to each other to help out those who don't get this covered by insurance.

I would do it, sure.
An on this subject I'd like to share...I was recently told by a Dr that if my ins only covers 10,000 then we'd go straight to IVF but if that wasn't the case we do another whole set of tests that I haven't yet had thanks for looking out for my best interest
Talk about getting the most out of your patients insurance companies...

Re: Med Question
I think I would do this for a friend. But your MD would have to be willing to write you an extra RX?

Well, I think they give you refills on a lot of stuff, just in case...
Or, in my case, it takes me a long time to stim, so I usually need to order at least 4000 iu's of Follistim with a refill.

I couldn't agree more. I would definitely do it.

Re: Med Question
I wouldn't think twice, I would do it. We really have to work together. I get angry, really angry with our drug companies in this country and our government's policies. I love how viagra is covered by insurance, but birth control is not. Women's health policies have to be reformed!

Re: Med Question
While I think the whole system ***** I would not do it. What if the meds make her sick or something happens while she is on them? You could be held responsible. Even if her dr gives her an Rx but you purchase them you could be held responsible. It is also illegal and while I see the "why" I don't think 2 wrongs make a right. Fight the system and write every single one of your state and fed gov't reps. Write the healthcare company and demand to know why Vigra is covered but women's reproductive medicine is not. Try to change the system. It has been changed before because of outrage. JMO..but of course I understand, again, WHY someone would want to offer to help. I just don't think I would take the chance.
