Medical Insurance Vent

AGH! Our boss just recently changed our medical insurance plan. We've always had Cigna, but now the plan has changed. May PCP co-pay is $25 and the Specialist co-pay is $40. The prescription plan is $10/$20/$50.

So . . . I go to the OBGYN the other day and I pay the usual regular co-pay of $25. (Before insurance changed it was $20)

I get my BC Pills, which cost $50!

I get a bill in the mail today from the doctor saying that I owe them $15. I call the insurance company and apparently now the OBGYN is considered a specialist! And I was supposed to pay a $40 co-pay! That is freaking rediculous!

So I figure now I spend @ $680 a year on the OBGYN and birth control pills!

I had the same issue - our company changed and the OB/GYN copay is $30 (used to be $10!) and BCP went from $25 to $40.

but my medical insurance allows you to order prescriptions by mail..i was able to get 3 MONTHS worth for $50 instead of $40/ month (and I had to go monthly to pick it up)

I would ask if they have that!

OMG...I hear ya! I'm with DH's insurance and his company just changed. In order for him to stay with his specialist he had to get the more expensive insurance...NOW...not only do we pay MORE per mth we pay more all around...prescriptions, co-pays, etc.
His medicine gets delivered every mth by Minimed and he's having to pay a LOT more money...

His company's response was...Oh...well can't you switch your doctor? Meanwhile DH is a diabetic. He's gone to this doctor all of his life and LOVES him... Why the heck should he have to change his doctor because his company wants to save a couple of bucks.

that happened to me too when i switched to dh's insurance. my bc are $61 vs. generic $30 for 3 months.
