Melting baby bottles

Just wondering if anyone ever had this happen - last night I was boiling bottles (Avent 9oz) - I do this when I don't run the dishwasher to sterlize. Anyway, about 5 -7 minutes after there're in there, I started smelling plastic & looked & saw that they were melting! I have been boiling bottles the same way since May when Ava was born so I don't think it was me. Plus, they were new bottles that I hadn't even boiled before. The box says to boil for 10 minutes - I didn't even get that far.

I spoke with someone from the company this morning & they said to send them in so their lab can analyze them (plus they want my receipts that show that I bought them)! The woman actually asked me if the water had evaporated from the pot and if so, did I leave them on the burner that way! I am so afraid of using this brand now - what if the rest are like this and are going to melt or leak plastic when I warm them up?

Anybody ever deal with this? Thanks.

I remember a friend of mine did this years ago (her DS is 14) and her mom FLIPPED out about it. I guess that always stuck in my head....

Re: Melting baby bottles

I used the glass and boiled them every day and never had a problem. I had to stop using them because he was dropping them so much. But, I never had a problem with the glass and Steven did not have gas issues due to the glass bottles.

Re: Melting baby bottles

I am going to get some glass ones tonight - I hope I can find similar nipples since she does so well with the ones she has been using.
