? Melting Pot
I am going there tonight for the first time with a bunch of people. We are all "planning" to order a la carte. How much cash do you think I should bring though to be on the safe side.........it looks from the menu that it could get kind of pricey.....I am just planning to get my own cheese fondue and maybe split dessert with a couple people.
ETA: Just askin' because I am wondering if most of you end up sharing anyways so it's easier to just split the bill.

I don't think you can get your own cheese fondu - there's usually only one pot heater thing. The only thing that can really be separate is your meal... but you need to get the same cooking oil. Some tables have two warmers I believe.
That's at least how it is at the one I go to.

yup. DH and I went there a couple of months ago, sat a table with one burner and we both wanted different cheese fondues, and we couldn't do it. We had to pick something we both wanted. Some of the larger tables have two burners.
I also didn't like the whole cooking my own entree thing. Next time we go, we will just do the cheese fondue and the dessert.

Re: ? Melting Pot
Looks like I should stop at the ATM and take out extra cash just in case. I was hoping $50.00 would be enough for 1 drink, a fondue and some dessert plus tip......maybe not though....

Re: ? Melting Pot
Update:
I spent close to $80.00 for just myself.
We all ended up doing the thing where the meal is split two ways and includes cheese fondue, salad, entree and chocolate fondue.
The majority, self included, thought the entree was pretty gross. I would've just been happy with the other 3.
Plus it took all night. Our reservation was at 7:30, yet we didn't get seated until 8. We didn't end up wrapping up dessert until 10:45.
I wasn't super thrilled with this place at all.
Maybe I will go back one day, but honestly, once was enough for me.

sorry you didn't enjoy it it does get pricey- we only go once a year for my birthday as a special "treat" (its actually one of my favorite places- LOVE the terriaki beef entree, and their shimp coctail sauce!) i actually like that it takes so long- i think it makes it more of a relaxing night out. sorry you didn't enjoy it though- at least now you know to save your money next time

ITA- I don't get the hype. I may go back for drinks and dessert, but the entree was nasty.

Re: ? Melting Pot
LOVE the melting pot. fyi - if you get the big night out, it's enough for 4 people to share and it cuts the bill in half ($50/couple.)
