Menopur injects start tomorrow- mixing tips?

Also, if I do ice and alcohol which comes first? Do I swab the area first and then ice or vice versa? Thanks!!!!

I'm sitting here trying to figure out the best combo. That is a hard question. I wonder what everyone did. I never iced, somehow I think I must have pinched my skin so hard that it numbed the area anyway. If you alcohol first, then would the area still be sterile after icing? But, if you ice first then the area would be thawing while you wait for alcohol to dry. Good luck with that one.

I never did Menopur injections, so I have no advice on that aspect.

If you're going to ice the area, ice it first, then swab, pinch and inject.

I never iced. But, be sure that the alcohol is dry before you do the injection. Good Luck!

I wanted to also add that when you start the Progesterone in Oil you should NOT ice! It will clump up the oil.

I never used ice. Just alcohol and waited until it was dry.

Mixing - just make sure you keep the tip of the syringe below the fluid line and, as everyone here advised me, put the 1 cc of air into the syringe first, then into the dilutent, then put the liquid into the vials. Good Luck!! Chat Icon

I ice up the area (my RE nurse recommended it), but only ice it for about 3 minutes, I've never had an issue with the oil clumping. She did say afterwards to gently massage the area and apply a heating pad or warm compress to the area for 5 minutes which will help with not clumping the oil. That's just my experience with it.

I think the burn from the ice would actually hurt more than the injection.
