Mid-Suffolk Pediatrics Patients (or anyone else really-- MMR related)
Our paperwork says that at 15 months, DD is due for the MMRV shot. Googled it, it's a combo shot of the MMR and the chicken pox vaccine. Not that they're given separately, that's it one shot.
Anyone else experience this? I'm still wondering what to do about the shots, I wanted to maybe do MMR at 15 months and chicken pox at 16 months (or vice versa), but if they only use this combo shot at this office, I may not have an option.

I think DS got them from two seperate shots at his 15 month visit. Call and double check.

DS never had the varivax since he got the chicken pox on his own....
So they def. make them separate.
I was told that they didn't do that combo shot anymore... but they may have just been the particular office

My doctor does the separate vaccines because that's how she orders them, but she does sometimes give them at the same time as she will with Thomas at his 18 month appointment.

Do you use Mid-Suffolk?
Yeah, I was reading online (CDC's website) how the MMRV combo shot wasn't readily available too much b/c they couldn't keep up with the demand, but that some practices had them. I have a printed schedule from the ped that we got when I was still pregnant it is listed as a the combo. Maybe it's an outdated sheet though.

I use Mid-Sufflok. DS just got the MMR 2 weeks ago at 15 months and will get the chicken pox one month after that (16 months). They had no problem with that at all.

Re: Mid-Suffolk Pediatrics Patients (or anyone else really-- MMR related)
There is actually a study out there that states that the Chicken Pox shot given before 16 months is not as effective. I found it online back in 2004 and brought it to my dr's office when my DS was due for it but they changed the shot already! That's why I LOVE my DOCS!
