Middle of the night wakings, 11 month old.

Just want to get a sanity check to see if I'm forgetting something I'm supposed to be doing. My nearly 11 month old daughter is waking up in the middle of the night. Right now we go in and check on her after about 20 minutes if she is just whining (quicker if she seems unusually angry) but once we determine there is no poop or anything, put her back down to work it out on her own. She has been up complaining for over an hour now.

I feed her if she wakes around 4 am and she goes back to sleep. Last month I tried feeding her when she woke up earlier, but she'd still wake a second time.

Do you think the 4 am feeding is a problem? I was thinking that since she can't tell time maybe she is confused why I'm not feeding her now.

Aside from doing no feedings from 7:30 pm until 6 am, I can't figure out what I can do differently to help her out.

She still uses a pacifier, but cries even with it still in her mouth.

Daddy is fed up. Chat Icon Mommy is sleepy. Chat Icon Any words of wisdom to share?

it's always tough to figure out what is bothering them in the middle of the night.
i used to only send my DH in at those times when it was not feeding time. she wanted me but got him and that seemed to stop the wakings....
sometimes, if it was teething related-i'd give tylenol and then put her back.
otherwise, i was pretty tough and never gave in. i know there are a lot on here who would not do that and i understand. however, i think not giving in made her a good sleeper. she rarely if ever wakes anymore. i used to BF her around 5am at that age but would never start doing it at another time of night b/c it just starts another bad habit.
as long as my DD was not screaming beyond belief, i did let her CIO-its not easy.
good luck!

What about trying a dream feed? They always worked for us. DD would go to bed by 7:00 and then when I was actually going to bed I would pick her up and nurse her. It would be about 10:30.....she would still be dead asleep but would still nurse. Sometimes then she wouldn't get up until 5:00.

If you are nursing I would say she needs to eat at 4 am. 7:30 - 4 is over 8 hours!! My ped said babies under a year can go 8 hours. Maybe its a growth spurt too.
