I can see it with kids. For the reasons others have stated here- wanting to let family/friends know what's going on quickly, they look so cute/sad, etc. I can totally see that.
What I don't get is when adults "check in" at the ER of the local hospital. Followed by a million comments- OMG are you ok? What's wrong? What happened? Everything ok? And no reply from the original person.
To me- that feels like attention seeking.
And secondly, any time I have been sick enough to be an ER, the LAST thing on my mind has been- HEY let me check in here on Facebook. I was more concerned with getting treatment, finding out what was wrong, etc.
I always think the exact same thing! Last time I was in the ER I seriously could have cared less about posting on fb. If I'm in the ER I'm there because I'm very sick. People are crazy. As far as kids are concerned I can see posting a pic and an update. It doesnt bother me. I personally haven't when my girls were in the hospital. I'm just way too busy taking care of them to care about fb.
