MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
As you know, DS is going to be Tigger for Halloween and I took pics of him trying it on. I sent them to my niece who showed them to my MIL. When she came this morning to watch DS, this is what she said to him:
"You looked cute in your Tigger outfit but you should be a pumpkin. I don't understand why they brought you a Tigger outfit and not a pumpkin outfit since every baby in my family wore a pumpkin outfit as their first costume. If mommy & daddy wanted to borrow a pumpkin outfit they could of asked."
I stilll did not say anything to her but I did mention it to DH. He is is so ****** that she said that to him right in front of me.

Why do MIL's obsess over stupid things?
He'll be a cute Tigger.
It's orange - tell her to squint and it'll look like a pumpkin.

I cannot stand when people talk to the parents through the baby. That is so annoying!!! And it was rude. His costume is adorable. Good for you & DH for being different.

Tell you are starting your own tradition and it is "PICKING YOUR OWN COSTUMES".
And he did look really cute in the costume

Re: MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
I did not know that everyone in her family wore a pumpkin outfit plus I could not give a ****. This is my son and he is wearing what we want him to wore not what she says. MILs are such pains in the assess

Re: MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
My parents have bought my daughter a costume every year even though I had already bought one myself. There has always been more than one place to take her in a costume so I just use both and make sure they have the pictures. Sounds like she didn't dislike the tigger costume, but just is holding onto this family "tradition". I'd get a picture of him in a pumpkin costume for her, double the fun.

Re: MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
Considering that he is YOUR son and looks so incredibly cute in the costume that you got him I think that you should just ignore her and let him be Tigger. There are a thousand different ways she could have had this conversation with you although none that should have let her get her way.
We also have a few people that like to express their unwanted opinions via conversation with my son Drives me crazy.

Re: MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
I don't go for the whole passive aggressive speaking to you through talking to your baby thing.
THAT would be what pizzed me off more than the costume. Next time she talks to you through DS, I would tell her to address your directly.
I am all for carrying on family traditions - even ones that include disgusting, yellowing polyester christening gowns that are so slippery you need a kung foo grip on your child so he doesn't wind up a Baptist with a whole body dunk on his Christening day (but I digress), however if it's all parties agree.

I am with family traditions and using same outfits, gowns, costumes but like you said as long as we agree.

Re: MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
Too bad for your MIL - she's going to have to get used to your traditions (or at least speak to you like the adult you are about the costumes)
Your son is too cute as Tigger - don't let her get to you

I was just going to say this, how rude and obnoxious to say something like that to *him* when clearly its meant for you. HATE THAT.
He's adorable and he will be what ever YOU want him to be for Halloween, unreal.....

Re: MIL Hates DS's Halloween costume
Thanks everyone for letting my vent. I know why she is like this. It is because my mom is not here. If my mom was here, I would never see her (my mom was suppose to watch DS) and she would never say anything to me.
