Milk for 3 year old
I was just wondering what kind of milk everyone is giving their 3 year old. I always gave my DS whole milk but yesterday at his 3 year check up the doc said to switch to 1% or skim. Anyone else told this. He is tall and thin so I know it is not because he is chunky.

Re: Milk for 3 year old
i think around age 2 you're allowed to switch down from whole milk. they need it in the early years for brain development. but supposedly after age 2 or so, they are getting enoug of what they need from solid food, they no longer need the extra fat in the milk.
with my ds, we stayed on whole milk much later as well, but that was because we have major eating issues with him, and it was one of hte few things he would eat. even now i won't swtich him down to skim milk, only because its a primary food in his diet, and he's almost 6 now. (but his eating is a topic of a whole new post)

Re: Milk for 3 year old
DS is on skim milk, and has been for a few years. DW and I are also on skim. DD is 2.5 and still on whole milk, but she'll probably switch over fairly soon.
