I only want to use a little bit to make mashed potatoes for DH tonight..

I usually never use it past the date and I cant taste it b/c I cant have dairy...

IT doesnt smell sour...WWYD

I drink milk all the time past the date. You would KNOW bad milk.

If I were sure it smelled good, I guess I would use it. That being said, I always think milk smells rotten, so I can only really go by the date.

me too! Ive dumped so much milk because of it. Chat Icon DH is now the tester

It's just a SELL by date.
Not a USE BY date.

Smell it- don't waste good milk over an arbitrary date.

Depends on how many days past the date. I wont go past 3 days or so even if it smells ok.

i can never tell if its good or bad

Unless it smells sour, I always use it past the date. As a PP said, the date on the milk is a sell by date, not a use by date.

if it is not sour or lumpy, it is okay. If it is a sell by date, it should still be fine a few days after that date.
