mineral foundation question (powder)
if you had a choice between a foundation that was slightly too light, and one that was slightly too dark, which would you choose?
(the difference is barely noticable, but in harsh light someone who was paying attention might notice it.)

Re: mineral foundation question (powder)
What if you tried mixing both shades?

I would go with the slightly lighter one- because nothing is worse than that line you get on your jaw line when the foundation is too dark...

Re: mineral foundation question (powder)
I have asked makeup artists this question b4 and they answered with darker. Maybe like the pp suggested, you could mix them??

Re: mineral foundation question (powder)
I'd do light and use a little bronzing powder.

Re: mineral foundation question (powder)
Darker, and dust some residue along the sides of the neck to balance it out. I find that *most* (but not all) people's skin is lighter on their face than on their neck. Ultimately, you want your foundation to match your neck because that's were it ends up. One shade darker is not that big of deal, especially if you dust a little down the sides to even and balance everything out.
If you were trying to freak the funk with your summer shade in the dead of January though, then that takes a little more finagling.
ETA: If it's a powder, going a shade darker is also much easier. Powder usually is lighter (in terms of coverage) than liquid, so going darker is not as bad as having a liquid to try to blend out.

Re: mineral foundation question (powder)
if you're using Bare Minerals, this is the exact reason why I switched to Laura Mercier.
I found that none of the BM shades matched my skin tone perfectly, but LM does.
