Mirena IUD Moms...I Need the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly...
Hi Mamas~ I'm scheduled to get my IUD tomorrow, but am having second thoughts after reading some reviews online. Would you mind sharing your experiences with yours? I am reading a lot about weight gain (or maintaining weight but difficulty losing), loss of libido, acne issues, mood swings, etc... Also, what can I expect the day it's put in? Will I be in a lot of pain that day? (ie: will I be able to care for my 4 yr old & infant on my own all day?) TIA for any info you can share...

I didn't have the Mirena, I had the Paraguard and I guess because there is no hormone I didn't have any of those side effects. The only I had was a heavy period but that only lasted about 6 months.
As far as having it inserted, I only felt pressure and some discomfort. I had a few days a very light spotting and that was all. Maybe some mild cramps but nothing that I needed to take medicine for. I actually had DD with me who was 3 months old in the stroller in the examine room with me and then we went to the mall.
I think you will be fine.

I dont have one but one of my close friends does. She has shared her experience with me. She said after a while she didn't think about it anymore. She had to go get her string shortened because her husband was "creeped out" by it...lol and just the other day she said she had a "gush" of blood that stained her pants she had ot go home and change. That's when she started having secong thoughts about it. She went to her dr. and wants to try something else.

Ditto to everything! (except the DD part, I had a DS in the room with me )
