Mirena users

I have my follow up appointment since having DD this Friday and am considering talking to my doctor about Mirena. I want to go on some sort of BC but not the pill. If you are or have been on it do you like it? Any complications? Did it hurt when they put it in or anytime after? TIA.

Re: Mirena users

I have the Paragard IUD, same concept....
I love it, no pilss everyday, no worries..
It hurt like hell when they put it in, felt like labor a little..they have to dilate you so it's the same feeling.
After that I was fine, I did have heavier bleeding for a couple months but now it's pretty normal....

I have the Mirena. It didn't hurt at all going in. I was so nervous about it, but it wasn't anymore uncomfortable than a pap. I like it. My periods are much much lighter. The only thing that is annoying is you can have spotting for the first few months. I had spotting every day for I think 10 weeks! I still have spotting here and there and I got it 4 months ago. My ob/gyn said the spotting could last 6 months. Other than that, it's great! No other side effects and I like not having to worry about taking a pill and the hormone level is tiny...the hormones aren't supposed to go past your uterus. I didn't want the Paraguard because it can make your periods heavier.

Re: Mirena users

Did your insurance cover it?

I have the mirena and have no complaints. The insertion was no worse than a pap and the biggest drawback was the spotting for the first few months. My insurance did cover it.

Same for me except I didn't have that much pain when they were putting it in. I have it in now for 15 and no problems. My periods are back to normal before I was on BCP.

My insurance did cover it but I would call the Dr. first and have them find out for you.
