Miss California to Launch Campaign Against Gay Marriage
Get ready for Miss California's battle with the gay community to heat up.
On NBC's Today show Thursday, Miss California Carrie Prejean announced that she'll be working with the National Organization for Marriage on a campaign opposing gay marriage.
"I am just here to protect marriage," said Prejean, 21. "The National Organization for Marriage basically just respects marriages and people who support it. I am here to protect traditional marriage."

Of the outrage following her conservative stance, she said, "I never thought in a million years that this would be happening right now. I was attacked for giving my own opinion on stage. I am going to do whatever it takes to protect marriage."
Marriage, she added, "is something that is very dear to my heart, and I am just here to protect it. That's all I am here to do."

Although it is an issue "people are passionate about," Prejean said: "Regardless of our opinions, we need to respect each other, even when we disagree. It's all about respect."
She said she has gotten no physical threats because of her views. Instead, "I've actually had so may supporters and so many people say, 'Thank you so much. It had to take a beauty pageant contestant to actually stand up for what she believes in.'"

Asked about some claims that she resembles Alaksa Gov. Sarah Palin, Prejean laughed. "I think that's funny," she said. "The only comparison is that we have both been in a beauty pageant."
So no plan to run for political office?
"Definitely not anytime soon," Prejean said. "That's for sure."

why cant people just mind their own business?? worry about your own marriage and leave what other people what to do alone. why dont you start a campaign against divorce while youre at it? thats 'protecting marriage' too isnt it.

SO she says to respect our differences and then in the same breath, says she is going to fight AGAINST allowing gay marriage.
I have never been so disgusted- I understand that people are uncomfortable with this idea but to actively attack the fight for equal rights- horrible!!

she sucks...I will NEVER understand why people care so much about how others live their life
and I balk at the old "sanctity of marriage" idea....with the divorce rate at over 50%, we have already, as a society decimated the "sancity"

I guarantee they're paying her. She def has an opinion on it but i doubt she'd put herself through the ringer for nothing.
Why would anyone fight this? Let people be married if they want, why is it up to anyone but them?

excuse me but the last i checked, the divorce rate was 50% so maybe she should start on straight couples first on "protecting" marriage. maybe she can do some workshops on how to communicate with each other and not cheat on each other. people MIGHT respect her then. who the hell cares who loves who. isn't life supposed to be happy and meaningful? if someone is happy and in love with someone of the same sex, good for them! look at all of the straight people that can't find love or are very miserable with themselves. ugh i hate people. she's not even pretty but aren't pretty people supposed to be seen and not heard (haha jk)
